Grids or no grids

last year

Hi , I am having custom cabinets made and I have only two glass cabinet doors. The upper left of sink and on the opposite side built in China cabinet with Cremone hardware. We are down to add grids on the China hutch and cabinet next to the sink or not. The original design had them but now do I add them or not. The built in China is not full sized so cabinet maker thinks it is better without. My style is Transitional European. Any thoughts.

Cannot offer opinion w/o pic of space or cabs. But, in general, grids are nice but I’d consider these points. Is the cabinet maker speaking from his/her experience on what looks best? Have to give that some consideration. And, is the cab width wide enough that they don’t create a busy look with the Cremone hardware? On their site there are grids shown but they are on exterior doors - don’t see any on kitchen cabs. And, would the grids match the shelf lines so that the grids don’t obscure any of the items being displayed? And, are the grids inside or outside the cab? Likely outside - will you do the periodic dusting needed?

    I vote No.

Glass fronts should show off what's displayed not fight with it.

Forgot to ask - the glass - is it clear or obscured or some kind of design? If anything but clear then for sure no grids.

skip the grids and get obscure glass. seede/ frosted/ rain..you pick . You do not have the volume of glass overall to make clear a compelling choice. One cab left of sink? and undersized china storage?

symmetry with glass is the typical.....but one is okay [sink], if the plan dictates...pick some texture tho.

1st 2 images.....clear /and grids ...the whole deal with symmetry and display . other images w the isolated cabinet...some small detail w glass. and for ?undersized? hutch set up....

Thank you all for your comments. All were really good things to consider. I decided with no grid mostly bc of the smaller size hutch. I almost did ribbed obscured glass look but decided plain was best. Today the install started. I am really happy with the look. Aged brass hardware and Cremone on glass doors arriving soon. There is also lights and clear glass shelves.

Cremone bolts are decidedly NOT modern additions with zero muntin cabinets. Skip those entirely.

The Cremone was a learning curve. I realized after the cabinets where installed that I needed the upper cabinet doors to be flush.

I cancelled the Cremone order and went with these pulls on the uppers. Thanks
