Looking at foyer wallpaper, really going to do it this year

I have periodically looked at wallpaper for our tiny dark vestibule but just kept procrastinating. Now, my friend down the street is having her tiny powder room wallpapered, and she has an installer she likes, so we will coordinate so he can do both in one day.

I don’t know the exact dimensions of the vestibule but it’s probably in the 4’ x 5’ range. Dark wood trim and wainscoting, which is NOT being painted. It opens to a foyer that is painted Healing Aloe. These are the papers I’m considering; feel free to vote!

Close up:

Standing back in the foyer:

Pictures of each from website.

The one on the mirror.

Top.

Middle.

Lower left.

Lower right.

I have definitely eliminated the middle paper — I love it up close, but from the foyer it just looks like pastel blobs.

The top paper really isn’t doing much for me, either.

I like the other three a lot. The yellows are making me happy. (And my DR is yellow, so it isn’t a random color.)

Also, because scope creep, I might do the back mudroom, too, which is off the kitchen. (Is this obvious? are all mudrooms attached to kitchens?). Faithful readers may recall that I recently added pink accents to the kitchen. Also, the powder room off the kitchen is a dusty pink color. I am in love with this paper.

The mudroom is also very small and hard to photograph, but here is the (dirty) floor. Looks more beige in this pic, but the tile is gray, black, and white.

PS the mudroom is not at all visible from the front vestibule. Opposite ends of the house.

The vestibule is nice but the mudroom is making me swoon a bit!

Real life stuff. Will post more pics when the mirrors etc are back in place.

Wowzer! The foyer is perfect the color and shape with the rug.

And the mud room is definitely swoon worthy! You were absolutely spot on with that choice. ❤️👍

Both wallpapers look nice (and I'm not a big yellow fan) - but I really love the mudroom!

Both applications look perfect, Sue! So glad you ended up with the yellow paper in the vestibule. Agree with others that the mudroom paper is fabulous also.

I like the reality of the yellow paper a lot better than I like the simulation. I liked that okay too, but the actual scale and color of the real thing is better.

Thank you all. I am really happy with both.

I think the front rug looks okay…could we do better, though? I looked a bit online but didn’t see anything great. Hanging the mirror might change the overall look, will post when it’s up later today.

We had talked before about painting the table below, but I am not sure. Will see how it looks when the mirror is hung.

I have new white dog bowls on the way because, well, because — and have transferred the doggie joint supplements into a cute tin. Annnnd I need to get a not-blue dog food scoop. We have tried ”cute” dog food containers before but these work and at some point, function has to take precedence. At least the b&w lids match the scheme haha.

The rug looks just fine, and I would keep it unless or untill you find something you are really excited about. Well done, Sue!

So cute, well done! I would not paint the table because I think the wood creates a bridge of sorts to the rest of your home. If it were black I think the space might look too modern for your house? Alert: I see something red in your basket, just so you know.

Is the rug in the foyer a runner or just liek a 2x3? I would just keep an eye out for something you may like better. Hard to say without seeing the rest of the space.

Haha Mtn, that’s DH’s inhaler (he is slightly asthmatic). Maybe I could knit a cozy for it?

Dark day and my pic is a bit blurry but the vestibule is back in business, including its sole light source. I know it’s less than ideal but there is no electricity out there. I thought my Pooky light would be taller (hint: check dimensions before ordering).

    Mtn, it’s around 2’ x 4’.

    CORRECTION. 3 x 5.

Waiting for DH to finish hanging stuff in mudroom.

    Aww 😍😍

Good morning, little sweeties! (I'm talking to the dogs.) I actually like the current dog dishes, but white will be nice, too. Agree that the table should remain as is. It looks great there.

Changing the vestibule rug wouldn't be a priority for me. It's fine until you find something you like better. Love the new angle view--the yellow cheers up the space. It's beautiful.

    Some Ruggables.

(Note: there is no rug in the foyer outside the vestibule. Walls there are Healing Aloe — pale blue-green.)

The plaid is interesting bc it is basically the palette for the whole first floor of the house.

Mudroom mirror and coat hooks and my real-life-practical rug. I think we’ve tried about 6 different rugs here and function has won over form.

Fortunately my sneakers and dog coordinate.

DH immediately hung his Red Sox cap here. I’m sorry, too soon.

I’m going to pass out from swooning so much.

I am so in love with your mudroom! I want to move in. I’ll sleep on a cot or whatever will fit.

Right?? DH was standing in that doorway earlier talking to me and I told him to move so I could see the wallpaper better.

Sueb, you have a real talent for picking out wallpaper and other decor. I’ll be honest, I’m generally not a fan of wallpaper in my own house, but yours is perfection, especially for your house. That pink and gray/black does make me swoon a bit. So unexpected. And the foyer is pretty too. Nicely done.

Pssst, I am not usually a big fan of wallpaper either.

Both are great, and I know you must be delighted to have it done, but I think you need a new name for that room. Mudroom does not fit at all.

It’s funny, DH usually doesn’t have a lot to say about decor, but he keeps talking about the mudroom, I mean Jillyroom.

But that Red Sox cap is back on the coat rack.
