Foyer Redesign Ideas

How would you redesign this foyer?

It is a small entry, but you have what looks like a good size closet. This is where I would get a professional closet installer to maximize every inch of space for your family and guests. I think the investment would be worth its weight in gold.

There is some amount of wall across from the front door. Would you take a photo of it, please?

Meanwhile, I would install a rug runner on entry tile floor and run it right up the stairs.

You want something flat weave that you can steam clean. This runner look like an indoor/outdoor material with a border. I like the border because it adds some style to your staircase and works so well with the black railing.

I have the small Bissell one (it's green) and it so easy to use and the results are great.

Once you decide on a rug, consider painting the interior and exterior of the front door a lovely coordinating color. (Ahem, black).

It depends a lot on how you use this foyer. Is this the main entrance your family uses, or do you tend to use a garage entrance? What is your climate--are you dealing with winter wet gear at this entrance? Are you a shoes-off household?

I would like to see a photo that includes the ceiling and the rooms joining the foyer.

It is the main door. I will be moving in 3 weeks from now. It is a subtropical climate. The upper/main level is hardwood and the lower/basement is carpeted which I may eventually change to hardwood. Unfortunately no garage and not a consistent shoes off family.

Do you have a photo of the foyer back 1/2 wall taken while standing in the front doorway? And a photo of the front door wall taken from the back 1/2 wall?

The back 1/2 wall is the only place for a bench or small console with mirror.

Is there a light fixture in foyer?

Are you planning to change the wall color or paint the front door interior a color?

Since this is a main entrance, I would definitely want a console to hold keys, sunglasses, etc. A mirror above if the wall has room. If you want a bench for taking shoes off/putting shoes on, it could be a small stool that slides underneath the console.

Nothing much of a wall because it is shared with railing and goes right up to the steps. I was thinking that I would have to outfit the closet with some sort of open space/built in. Otherwise, I would have to just hang some hooks.

Here are 2 examples of the open closet. Not my style but the concept is close.

Could I split it to have a closed space for a small closet on the right side with a built in storage with a mirror above?

If you don't need much space for coats or rain gear, that's a great solution!

If this foyer were mine I would insist on a new railing system. I hate wrought iron.

Yes! I will definitely be changing the railing.

Since used for family and guests IMO all extra coats, shoes , backpacks go to bedrooms you want the have space for guests coats and shoes , We lived in some places with no entry closet the kids we all took coat and shoes etc to our rooms . I like the idea of the sliding doors they take up no space ., a nice mat that is large enough for dirty shoes to be taken off . Maybe a tiny stool in the corner to use for guest to put on shoes .
