It's been hot here and the rain spigot has been turned off. The grass is beginning to turn brown and you can see the stress in the cornfields. Here are a few that are blooming now. I don't think we are at peak yet, but we are getting close.

Rosemary Mussar is looking a little pale in the heat.

Dennis Russell is doing better than it did last year.

A Sip of Red is finally increasing.

Bird's Eye View

Here are some of the seedlings. We have been working on reverse bicolors for a couple of seasons. This one is a two year old seedling Whoa Mule X To the Ritz in a Rickshaw. It is quite tall.

This seedling is not ours. It was sent to us as a bonus with the name Roger Flatford's Orange Stripe. We don't know if it is a dip or tet, but we are guessing a dip.

This will be a 2026 intro. It makes quite a statement in the garden. It is Tropical Fusion X Sonoran Desert Rose.

Another 2026 intro, this is Remembered Kisses X Empire of Dawn and Dusk.

Another 2026 intro, this is So Beautiful to Me X Sonoran Desert Rose.

We raise lots of golden yellow daylilies with red eyes but this seedling is a bit different as its yellow color is more lemon yellow. It is Tropical Fusion X Saber Tooth Tiger.

This seedling is not ours but Debra's. It is Abilene Lillian X Ruby Lipstick. I think the color is a little faded by the heat. We love the edge though. The pollen needs to go on Cherry Pie a la Mode and the Remembered Kisses seedling.

Dave Chase Golden Glow is a pretty orange, and I like the bloom and the name Pinky Dinky Do. I like the Remembered Kisses seedling. My seedling does have a good edge. It will be interesting to see what you get crossing it with Cherry Pie and the Remembered Kisses seedling.

I'm very impressed by the Sonoran Desert Rose seedlings, at least at the surface. Tropical F here does not have a great scape--crowded buds and a bit short. I hope the seedlings get different genes. What's your opinion now on Dave Chase? In the past, you have expressed reservations at various times. Dennis Russell is a great performer here this year.

I like Pinky Dinky Do. Your two new intros look great, hope they do well for you.

It is super dry here, rain predicted for several days next week. Still trying to focus on the good ones here.

Mantis, Dave Chase Golden Glow is short and at least this year few budded. It might not stay in the garden if I were making the choice, but Bob really likes it. As far as the Tropical Fusion is concerned, it is rather top budded, but I don't think the buds are congested. It is making quite a show this season in the sales bed. Its pod parent Sonoran Desert Rose tends to give good genes to its offspring.
