This room looks quite small for a sectional, unless you are considering an apartment-sized one. You don’t say the overall room measurement, but it looks around 15x12 or so? To me, that is small, especially considering your large window.

That said, I’d personally never choose a sectional. They’re so limiting as they take up so much room. I have a very large family room, and I have two full size couches instead.

I only like a sectional if its for an additional room, like a family room.

For a home with only one seating area, I prefer sofa and chairs.

Littlebug, the room is around 15 by 12. Window is about half the long wall. But could you explain why the large window makes the living room small?

My biggest reason to want a sectional was to get that cozy lounge inviting feel, currently my living room feels so empty. But if I can get the same with sofa and chairs that works too

The large window doesn’t make the room feel small. Like doorways and traffic patterns through the room, windows complicate furniture arrangements. Many people don’t want to put much in front of their windows which might block their views/light/airflow.

Look at this thread. It reminds me of your situation in that they are squeezing a sectional in a small room.

I would not get a sectional if you are thinking you are in this house short term-ish. They frequently to do fit or work as well in new locations.

We bought a large sectional in our previous house, but it was for our TV watching living room. I also had a family room, open to the kitchen, that we used for entertaining and it had 2 sofas and 2 chairs.

Most smaller sectionals take up a lot of room and can barely fit 3 people. Guests won't sit in the chaise part, because they won't feel comfortable putting their feet up on other people's furniture.

Another vote for sofas and chairs. If you want cozy, get ottomans for the chairs. They allow you to put your feet up but are versatile since you can move them around.

Thanks guys! My architect family member also suggested linear sofa. Think I'm proceeding with sofa for now which I know will fit. My biggest fear is to get a sectional and have it not fit or be super cramped.

This is a long term house, we don't expect to move in at least 5 years, but we don't have kids so it's just us 2 and our dog and cat who are the main users of the couch.

Anybody have a sofa to recommend around 90-110 inch? Budget is low 2k. Currently looking at C&B oceanside/lounge and PB York/big sur

Get an 84” sofa 7’ is plenty big. Then 2 armchairs. Very comfortable for up to 4 people, 5 in a pinch

Look at the Brooke sofa by Rowe.

It’s about $2500 but well made and very comfortable
