half bath makeover

I’m tired of this bathroom. Still need a toilet and a sink but I’m open to all other suggestions. Hate the tight space between the vanity and toilet but not sure how to remedy that because of plumbing.

More information would help. Is it a 1st or 2nd floor. Slab, basement or crawl below if 1st floor. we need more plumbing and construction info.

Even if you cannot move the plumbing, there are things you can do to help tame the perception of how close the sink and toilet are.

The vanity visually takes up a lot of space. Get an under mount sink instead of a surface mounted sink. Get a smaller mirror that does not hang over the edge of the vanity. Use a narrower sconces. No need for a backsplash on the side.

Use chrome knobs that reflect more light and disappear more. Paint your walls and cabinets the same color. Get a rug that blends in a bit more.

First floor slab, toilet on exterior wall. No electrical outlets at all.

Do you need all the storage?

I would get rid of the tower by the vanity and shift the new vanity over as much as possible. Depends on where the plumbing is coming out (wall or floor)?

I hate vessel sinks, so I would recommend you don't do another one!

So we no know you can’t easily move the plumbing being on a slab. I just wanted to add to the other good advice given that i would look into removing or reducing the bulkhead. You might be able to run the vent in the wall or ceiling provided there’s nothing else in there.

You should be able to shift the sink over without changing the plumbing inside the wall. I had to make some adjustments to the location of my two sinks on my vanity when I renovated my primary bathroom. The plumber was able to move both of them a little bit by just adding an additional piece (or replacing one piece - I can't remember).

If you are just moving your sink over a little from its current location = easy. I didn't really need a plumber for that - he just did it because he was already there doing other work for the renovation.

If you don't need that much storage in a powder room - do a floating vanity to visually extend the floor (replace floor if you can - but obviously you'd need to have tiles that matched if you expose under the vanity). And yes you should be able to move the sink over. Streamline that vanity with an undermount sink and provide more counter.
