New curtains for LR

I’m ordering nice curtains from a website for my bedroom but feel like updating these panels in my living room would help make my living room more “buttoned up.” This is our music room/study that opens up to a living room that has 2 big windows. We typically have these open 24/7 unless we need to block the sun (hello AZ heat!) or need privacy. Otherwise, we like to let all the natural light in. Would ordering linen curtains with a pinch pleat and “memory training” be a good call? Or would that type of curtain heading be too formal? Or not worth money? Because curtains I order will essentially be same color/material. Any/all feedback welcome!

the pinch pleat would be a more finished look, for sure.

the photos don't help much, but I would extend the rods beyond the window frame and get enough panels to make a fullness when completely closed, even though you may keep them open.

Adding a blind would be a beautiful finish.

Are you changing your preference to a more formal look or do you still prefer a soft header's informal look like what you have? Trained pinch pleat curtains are best dry cleaned and soft header curtains can often go in the washer. In a dusty climate like Arizona, the ease and expense of cleaning is important. If you switch to pinch pleat, you will need to use wider, possibly stronger curtain rods and wands for opening and closing (unless you use classic traverse rods). Allow about one third the width of the window for stackback space for the wider curtains.

IMO any would be an improvement over what you have but I need to see the room. I love grommet drapes for a less formal look and if you get some solar shades even on hot sunny day you will be able to keep the view and control the heat . Then if uoi need night time privay pull the drapes Wahtever style you decide the drpes need to be at least 2-2.5 times the width of the rod.

What about dark blue fairly thick curtains with eyelets (black eyelets)? Eyelets help create and maintain folds. I also support the idea with blinds. Classic blinds (in the color of the walls or light wood of muted tones) or pleated blinds (the color of the walls or a little darker - the color of unbleached linen).
In my opinion, it is better to place the inscriptions in posters on the wall. Although the curtains can have a small or fairly large geometric print, such as stripes or zigzags...

Linen curtains with a pinch pleat and memory training could honestly be a great call. The pleats give a cleaner, more tailored look (without feeling too fancy), and the memory shaping really helps them keep that neat look even when you open and close them a lot — especially useful in sunny AZ!

I went with some pleated linen ones recently from a brand called LuxDrape, and I’ve been super happy with how they turned out.
