Another Round Up
It's about winding down now. Just as well as summer temperatures are on their way and we will go into the high 90's to over 100 next week. I'm not telling the daylilies or they may pick up their pots and move up to Sherry's cooler climate. Here's a few more that bloomed:
This is a new one. I got a small plant but it managed to give me a sample of what may come next year. Only one bud bloomed because as I moved the pot to a better location my knee gave out, I dropped it and the other buds broke off. RATS! Still I liked the one I saw.
One Carolina FFE:
This is my Buzz Saw. I like it so much that I tracked down one of its children to trial.
This is the Child of Buzz Saw. It's taller with larger flowers, more teeth and colors about the same (yellow fading to white). We will see if it's as winter hardy as Buzz Saw (which I still will keep).
HEAVENLY SPINOSAURUS
Such a good daylily for me. One of my favorites. The color shifts to more lavender as the day wears on, but earlier it can be more pinky. That's the only change it makes as the daylily is remarkably sunfast/colorfast even in our heat:
Sweetest Name I Know:
This is one I've babied after I almost lost it over winter a couple of years ago. It doesn't like it when my temperatures go over 90, but it will tolerate it unless it gets over 95. The deal for me is the color. Not that big a fan of most reds, but this red is superlative when it gets it right.
Cherokee Star:
I know some of you nod off when yellows are posted, but this is one of the best I've ever trialed. Excellent bloomer with large (7 inches plus) blooms, heat hardy and cold hardy.
Lisa Apps Sybrandt:
Another new one. I like the faces on some of the older Carpenters. Back in his prime really tall daylilies weren't a "thing" yet, so some of the daylilies bred back then may be on the shorter side. Fine by me. So here is a shorter, but very pretty face from the 90's:
Elizabeth Elaine:
This is one of the few patterned daylilies I really like. BTW- The wire cages in the background, as obtrusive as they are, save the plants from the ravages of the rabbits - I sure miss my Yardley (avatar) scourge of all things that munch.
Kiss You In The Morning:
Finally a trip down memory lane. This is a picture at a daylily show I went to of one of the first streaked daylilies I had ever seen. Not my thing, but maybe someone will like it.
