The more adornments you add the harder it will be to make changes if you need to in future. Also, while you want your floors to look nice, you might not want them to be the main feature of the room. Consider keeping the floors simple, keeping the contrast between the two tile colors minimal, and if you want a border, keeping to an outside border.

I think you’re right. I just realized this a few minutes ago. I am under the impression that you lay the floor and the cabinetry goes on top. If that is correct, then installing a border in front of cabinetry is problematic. Thank you for your wise response. And I haven’t decided on tile colors yet - soft creams and browns or classic black and white. Such wonderful problems to ponder….
