Tray ceiling height problem

Hi,

I am building a new home in a new neighborhood through builder.

Per Exhibit B of our binding agreement, it clearly states:

“WALLS: 9’ 1ST FLOOR, 8’ UPPER LEVEL; 8’ BASEMENT.”

And:

“CEILINGS: TREY CEILINGS IN PRIMARY PER PLAN.”

Primary bedroom is on upper level and have tray ceiling, but the wall height from floor to perimeter of the tray ceiling is 7ft 3inch and not 8ft. The recessed part of the tray ceiling is 8ft. This tray ceiling make the primary bedroom really small and cramped.

Did builder make mistake?

Based upon the information provided the wall height is per the contract. The 9" deep pans are excessive for a space with eight foot tall ceilings.

Hi Thank you so much for quick answer. Just curious, there is a neighbor with exact same floor plan as I have and the height of wall from floor to perimeter of tray ceiling is 8ft. and there was no option to make ceiling higher.

Did builder make mistake?

Ask builder.

there is a neighbor with exact same floor plan as I have and the height of wall from floor to perimeter of tray ceiling is 8ft.

Then it seems likely that someone made a mistake, doesn't it.

Your answer may lay in removing the tray ceiling from the master bedroom or drastically reduce its height; you will be unconscious most of the time you are in the room anyway.
