Color combination for mountain house in Tahoe

What colors should we go with for repainting the walls in a Tahoe house? We find the current beige tone to be too dark… thanks

I'd probably go creamy like a BM Swiss Coffee, and remove the carpet from the stairs - can always clean up what's under there and can always paint them and put down a runner (tons of DIY stair makeovers online)

not the right color, either. Nothing to relate to Tahoe.

If you are searching for a beige in a lighter tone, sample against your fireplace.

The stark white trim makes any color look too dark for the space.

it's a shame to hang the TV over the fireplace and obstruct the architecture.

is there a spot to the right of the right window?

You could probably see it from the kitchen and dining area too.

Any thoughts on adding an area rug and window coverings, regardless if you need light control or privacy, just an opportunity to cozy up the space.

The fireplace surround looks pinkish, or maybe the current wall color is making it look that way. In any case, focus on finding a color to go with the fireplace if you don't intend to change it. Same with the carpet on the stairs, the wood floors and kitchen cabinets. You always focus on the fixed elements when looking for paint colors. Do you know what the current color is, or did you not paint it yourself? I agree with Lyn that the trim color looks like too bright a white. Painting trim is a pain, but for the best result you should repaint the trim as well as the walls. It doesn't look good with the fireplace.

Thanks for all the comments! We will definitely consider moving the TV to the wall next to the fireplace. Love the comment for the stairs and runner.

    Not sure for current color.
This is what we are considering from dune edwards color choices:

    Accent fireplace
    Dec753 almond or
    Dec 754 quick sand
    De6128 dry dune
    De6114 sand dune

    Main walls
    Dew341 swiss coffee or
    Dew340 whisper

    Trims
    Dew341 swiss coffee or
    Dew380 warm white

    Doors and Handrails
dec752 birchwood or dec786 miners dust, or de6217 ancient earth

Be sure to get sample cans from DE to test. Whisper can be lovely, but test it in your space. It worked nicely for us (walls and trim) with enough natural light. Its slight yellow undertone can also come out without enough light.

I find the first group of colours you're considering is completely off. I would suggest you paint the entire floor in the same wall paint colour and trim (DEW340). I'm showing one of the darker colours, DEC752, that coordinates with the above in case you want to paint the doors a darker colour (can only see 1 door). My preference would be to paint walls, trim and doors all in the same light colour. Here's an idea of what the room could look like in the light colour and a colour scheme suggestion to go along with it.

For the stair runner, I suggest a natural fibre looking rug but not a natural fibre as it's difficult to keep clean.

That TV just does not work here neither decor wise or for actual use but for sure not in front of a window either . Show the whole space that that TV is in . Is that the only place for a TV? I have no idea why all those boring taupey colors at all . Have no idea how Tahoe srives wall color . I love the llight in the DR bitu nothing else you show has that same vibe. The mirror is all wrong for that DR wall for sure.. I am having a bit of trouble getting a handle on your style so I need pics of whole spaces for sure. The stairs are definately in need of a spruce up for sure .and not that carpet but the on suggested might work . The trim is nothing to highlight so same color as walls but in satin instead of matte. I do not think beige is a neutral nor ar whites both have many undertones thta do not play well together. Have you looked a color that is just a hint of grayed green I love Healing Aloe from BM cut to be just a hint of color it is IMO a much truer neutral than beige or white . Maybe Spring leaves from DE cut 25% might work.

Thanks! We love the idea for the grayed green! We are getting both spring leaves and healing aloe samples tomorrow to test. Here are images of the living room. Help me with ideas where to put the TV, but keep the room functional (we tried to moves sofas but any other option either blocks the porch door or faces another challenge)

For furniture layout suggestions you need to post a floor plan showing all dimensions, doors, windows, etc. and indicate the dimension of your sofas ( I see you have 2) and mention other furniture you would like in this room.

I love greyed green but make sure to look at it next to the fireplace tile - it might make that look pinkish

A nice green for your walls would be BM's October Mist which has a touch of grey.

The natural light coming into your house must change dramatically because of the mountain exposure. B M has a gray tone, off white ,which is very flexible...and, looking at your photos, will work so well with the wood floors. Gray Owl, has just a hint of green. Used it; love it.

This photo is Gray Owl with white ceiling. Your home has random shaped ceilings. I suggest you use Gray Owl in the ceilings, as well, Add floor lights to the main room which will add interest/shadows.
