exterior update

last year

I am wanting to update the exterior of my home. I am considering having the trim on the windows painted black and removing the shutters altogether or replacing them with a more attractive shutter. Any opinions?
Hmmm, I’m not seeing how to add a picture to my question. Help?

A path from the front door, more interesting landscaping and painting the shutters would be the obvious changes. This one has a path from the front door and simple landscaping, giving the house presence.
