Window treatments - Do you need them for privacy, light control, or both?

Area rugs - Highly recommended, they add comfort, help with sound, and visually define areas like dining and living spaces.

Lighting - Don’t forget layers of lighting. A mix of floor lamps, table lamps, and overhead lights.

Floors - Your floors are beautiful, but also very dominant. Don't ignore the color, incorporate it throughout the room with art, sofa pillows and rugs.

Color tones - Since your floors are warm-toned, try to stick with warm tones when you choose items. Grays will be tough to work with.

Natural elements - Plants, baskets, and wooden accessories add warmth and texture. Not too many, not undersized.

Think about scale and proportion - A room can be thrown off balance by a too small rug, too big sectional or undersized art. There is a lot of advice online about choosing proper sizes.

Keep in mind that you're inviting some design pros and people with a design eye into your home via photos. If they walked into your actual space, they would take in all of it: all four sides, doorways, floors, windows, ceiling, built-in fixtures, lighting, trim--the "givens"--then the features that can be changed--furnishings, paint, art, rugs, decor items, etc. It's all one first impression. Same thing with photos. That's why it's important to provide well lit photos of the entire space, taken from all sides of a room regardless of the size of your problem.
