Living room layout needs change

last year

Hi,

I need ideas on how i can change the layout of my living room. I need to get rid of the hideous recliners although have a recliner that swivels had been great. The coffee table and end tables are too bulky. I guess what im saying is I need a refresh. Side note: I lost my husband, dad, and mom not too long ago and i need a change. Thank you in advance.

So sorry to hear of your losses. Change is good! In order to get the most from the Pros here they want pictures of all four sides of the room as well as a measured schematic of the walls, windows and doors included. Do you have a pic of rooms you love to share? Do you plan to get new anything or discard anything currently in the room.?

Hi thank you for responding. The ceilings are 10’ high and I want to get rid of those recliners, the coffee table (its so big, bulky, and heavy), abd the end tables. Eventually one of the sofas. The sofa’s are 96” each that i bought a few years ago at Haverty’s.

Here’s some more photo’s. I’ll look for measurements (schematic).

Best i could do The red shows where windows are located.

I'm so sorry for your losses. It's a lot to process in a short time. Would we be able to see the other 2 sides of the room? It would be useful to see where else the tv could be placed.

Without the pieces you've listed, I'd start with a slim console to locate the tv between the windows on the wall where the recliners were. You can watch while reclining on your sofa or sectional if you replace the sofas. A large ottoman can be a table.

Hi @expobaby I have all sides in the above pictures. What view are you looking for?

We send our heartfelt condolences for such a great loss. Our hearts go out to you. We want to offer our help in any way we possible can. Sincerely, MAE Day Designs

Thank you for posting the additional pictures that helps a lot. If you are able to find a blue print with measurements on it of the rooms including the formal dining room area near the front door, that would be very helpful. If not we will work with what you have already posted. In the meantime we will start a workup of the room in a 3D concept arrangement. Our very best wishes to you.

I think we were posting at the same time and oddly my post ended up after all your pictures. I like the Dan1888's idea of putting the tv on a stand between the two windows. The stand could be on wheels to give you ideal viewing. I think a beautiful piece of art over the fireplace and a round ottoman would look nice.

My condolences for your losses. I think the TV is too large to go between the windows, consider removing the shelves on the left side of the FP and hang the TV there. One sofa and 2 chairs is usually a good place to start building your room. I would also remove the curtains. They are really not doing anything for the room. After you have the furniture, you want then consider some type of window treatment. There are many options. Good luck

Here are some suggestions for your consideration. Only the type and placement of the furniture is being suggested (including Dan's ideas), not the colors or styles.

I'd pull out everything you plan to replace, recliners, end tables, coffee table. If the curtains aren't needed for privacy, I'd take those down too. Get as clean slate as you can. Maybe you end keeping one of those recliners...who knows. Take your time with your refresh, sounds like you've been through a lot.
