Gown Gallivanting
We arrived home last night from ~two days of flying and of course the second order of the day (after handing out gifts, which were a hit), was to try on gowns! I shared the .. eight? IIRC ...gowns that I have here with the DDs, and also my file of all the ones under consideration.
These are their top three, below. They did not like anything black and white or navy and white, thought the hot pink was boring and the black beaded number was the wrong vibe and they liked the idea of floral but did not actually like any of them on me.
Number one, blue coral. This has a 15 day return policy so I didn't order it until yesterday on the way home. It is sold in two pieces. The white dress underneath is like $325 IIRC and the mesh wrap is $395. However, Home Interiors with Ease, who found this, also found a dupe for the white underpinning at Macy's for $50 and the girls loved that simple dress. When the overlay arrives, we shall see if it is in fact number 1.
Number two, blue floral. So, when I first saw this I wanted it for one of my DDs because I can't do strapless. I sent it to her and she liked it so I told her I was ordering it. Then I forgot all about her when I came up with the organza overlay idea (which I've not yet purchased because I cannot find a returnable version I like and don't want to commit).
Number three, blue mermaid.They are very big fans of this one and the boned bodice but simply prefer the patterned options for the venue.
BTW they loved the cropped pale silk see thru tops I got them in Buenos Aires (and their silver bracelets; Argentine = silver), one is this ever so pale blue and one in white. DD2 said "you don't know how perfect this is, Mom... you can layer it over so many different things and wear it as a jacket or a shirt, tied or untied, dressy or not, any time of year." Satisfying for them to love their gifts.

I think the navy vintage one I like is just toooooo dark for the dress, but I am trying to think if I have any other use for it.
I have concluded the bag needs to be fabric or smooth. The dress is too dear to risk it and it will be annoying to have to be mindful.
I decided to look for silver shoes and they were sold out of the ones I wanted in my size. Just as well, as I would probably only wear them once. I ordered these instead:
I also sent my daughter off with the Delft dress. I wore the cami with a jacket and white jeans to brunch, and the cami straps are so annoying. My original intent was to buy it for her, and to her it now goes. I might borrow the skirt for our Caribbean trip to wear with a tied white button down.Fare thee well...

These are the LARGE ones! Yikes.
I went to orderthe small ones; sold out. This is my gripe about fine jewelry. Even if your jewelry is quite expensive, it never quite stands out quite the way a $100 pair of hoops can! My poor Mikimotos... Well maybe they can go to the wedding and the hoops will go on vaca.

If by chance they're not quite right - you might find something on this Etsy site. The seller uses old tiles from Portugal as her inspiration for her jewelry. She lived in Portugal for a number of years and creates earrings, bangles, necklaces from polymer clay. Most of her pieces are blue and white, some are multi-colored. I haven't ordered from her but my neighbor has several of her bangles.

@maire_cate, have you posted those before? They look so familiar, or maybe I saw them in Portugal. I love these but --- steel? I cannot find them in gold.
