1929, DH and I had idly looked at rings and I pointed out one that I really liked. Months later, I looked in the store again and the ring was gone. I was so upset about it, he finally said ”I bought the ring!…but you don’t know when you’ll get it.” By that time, we were living together. One Saturday, I was cleaning the bathroom of our apt in my sweatpants and he came home from ”errands” with a dozen roses and the ring. LOL I couldn’t believe he proposed while I was scrubbing the shower. Guess I’m glad it happened in the olden days before phone cameras and instagram.

I’m happy for them and wish them well. Two people who happen to be famous and have dated for 2 years. A beautiful ring and some nice memories of the official proposal. I think it’s great news. I suspect the staged photos were for the fans and that there was a very private actual proposal. I respect her so much and he seems like a very good guy who adores her. I’m sure finding a genuine love is difficult with the kind of wealth and star power involved. They both scored!

I feel for them that people assume it's more than love that has brought them to this point. She seems like such a "down to earth" person and does so much good that I will assume this is all about love and nothing else.

I do not like the ring. I think the setting does not do the diamond justice (assuming the diamond is stunning - hard to tell from a pic). But if they love it, that's all that matters.

Taylor said it and it's a reference to schools where there's a popular handsome jock gym teacher (or football coach) and a pretty, sweet proper English Teacher...of course, they have to date in secret, then spring their marriage plans on their students. Someone referenced "Glee" which I don't watch but from the pics it looks like the gym teacher was a she and the English teacher was a he.
