Living room remodel. New chairs in place, new teal sideboard, new set of shelves, leather couch should be delivered by the end of the month. I have stuff set on these pieces, but just because I haven’t figured out how I want to decorate those things yet, so don’t come for me!

My issue is the window coverings. I had sheers done on a traversing rod, and side panels made. When they were first installed, it turns out, the side panels were too short (see photos).

I have a couple of ways I can go with this. One, they will redo the side panels to the right length. I love the fabric, and it matches the design of my sideboard. That said, they do darken the room more than I anticipated. I can use the old panels and have pillows made out of them if I want.

Two, I can remove the black set of extra rods, change the traversing rod to black (I don’t like the white at all), and just stick with the sheers, forgetting the panels altogether.

Third, I could have them use the panel fabric that they’re not going to be able to use for my side panels and make a cornice out of it, so a cornice instead of side panels.

Of note….my home is rustic warm colors, Southwest feel.

I’ve added photos of my space with just the sheers there now, what my panels looked like, and a couple of cornice ideas.

Partly, even though it wasn’t our fault that these were measured wrong, I’m feeling a little guilty not using the fabric at all. It’s like I got an opportunity to see them up, and I’m changing my mind. I like the side panels more than my husband, without a doubt….but they are ‘heavy’ on the windows, if that makes sense.
