That's impressive! They look tall. Are they sort of climbing on something? I can't tell what's behind them.

I'd grow more petunias if mine ever looked half that good by late summer. Mine always decline. I've tried watering more and I've tried watering less. I'd blame our hot summers but I pass a home down the road from me that always has pots of robust and beautiful petunias all summer.

Here is another monster container I came across on the same trip (this was outside a garden centre).

Those are so thick that you can't tell but there must be at least two or three containers under there. Did you part the flowers to see? : )

With the supertunias,you can get plants like that from just one plant.Go to youtube tv and look up "Garden answer",Laura grows lots of them like that as do other gardeners on the youtube shows.You'll see things that will blow your mind,but in a good way.

Yup, I am familiar with Supertunias (with "Bubblegum" being the most vigorous). There is no way that is just one supertunia. To have the structure fill more quickly they would have used several plants.

Those petunias are doing better than mine this late in the season. Someone there clearly cares.
