And I think a photo might give people nightmares. It is The Kitchen That Time Forgot! I mean, I'm fond of it, but it might depress others.

If you have a drop in cooktop and want to replace it with another drop in, what really matters is your cutout size. Once you remove your old cooktop you’ll be able to measure that. Then you go for something that fits the cutour you have, or needs a slightly larger cutout.

First no one actually uses those old coil cooktops anymore but to go induction requires a look at your electric supply. Show us what you have in a pic of your space to start Post it here in jpeg format in a comment.Gasland makes a 21" and a 12" maybe you could fit those sxs with a bit of work

Walmart sells one that is an induction 31.5". I can't attest to the quality as I've never hear of K& H. I do have an induction range and love it! Won't go back to gas or smooth top.

Pictures pictures pictures! As someone mentioned - what is the size of the current cutout? What is the countertop material? What is the size of the cabinet underneath?

If you measure the actual cut out size you can determine what needs to be done. Your 32" top has a 32" frame but has a cutout smaller than 32". If you have laminate or solid surface tops, it'll be easy for an installer to cut a larger opening. If it is granite or quartz, then it'll be expensive, but I think a stone countertop fabricator will come out an resize the hole. I am assuming you do not have a stone top based on your kitchen being described as something time forgot. This may be an easy fix then.

Well, I'll try to measure from the bottom then ... I guess maybe it will really be a 30" cutout, which may simplify things. I don't think I can lift it out (or swing it out). The counter is tile, which is whitish and, I assume, totally unmatchable. ; ) That's okay.

This may take me a couple days, I am deep into hvac confusion. (I'll try to put up some pics just for fun. They are on a different device.)
