I watched Martha’s video years, years ago, got it immediately, and have been doing it ever since. So easy and tidy, and no bed required.

But my favorite method is this: wash the sheets, and put them back on the bed.

When I wash the comforter cover, though, I still have to bring up the burrito-method video on my phone.

I don't worry about folding my fitted sheet - it gets folded just enough to fit in the empty space in the linen closet where I've removed my other set of sheets (I rotate two sets because I usually wash laundry overnight).

I contribute to doing this in our house. I strip beds, launder sheets and blankets (including taking larger/bulkier items to a laundromat) and do my fair share plus some when we team up to put clean sheets on a bed.

I've never had a problem folding fitted sheets. My wife does sometimes but that particular task I leave to her.

@Olychick - that's exactly how I used to fold fitted sheets back in my 20s!! I finally decided when I turned 30 that I should learn how to correctly fold a fitted sheet (okay, it wasn't because I turned 30, it was just a coincidence that I turned 30 a few days after my five year old was talking to me about her day at school while I was folding some laundry, and she looked at me with an odd look on her face - and then commented, "Ummm . . . that's not how nana folds her sheets. . .")

"Well, that's because your nana is a magical fairy who does everything perfectly - except for failing to pass the "magical perfect fairy" gene on to me . . ."

I actually have family members who comment about how "perfect" everything is folded in my linen closet - I've taught several family members how to fold fitted sheets. Mom would be proud 🤣

I learned at 10yo how to fold fitted sheets from a WP dryer user manual that detailed the invert-the-paired-corners method. It is more of a struggle with the extended elastic length.

I’m on Elmer’s team for this one with the video posted by PattiG. Not only did her voice annoy me but I was slightly horrified by the thought of laying my freshly laundered sheets on the floor & rolling around in them. I can honestly state that my floors are acceptably clean & so am I unless I’ve been working a major outdoors project - but then I’m not usually doing laundry at the same time. I did look at the OP’s video & was surprised to read that it’s how I’ve been folding fitted sheets all along! It works well for me & I can do it very quickly. My husband cannot seem to get the hang of it but he does a pretty good job on top sheets & cases. All those tidy engineer corners.

It was meant to be silly, at least that was how I perceived it. If I thought she was serious I wouldn't have posted it.

PattiG - I did assume it was in fun -that’s why I was only ”slightly horrified”. But, folding fitted sheets is a major life challenge for sure! And her voice is a bit much 😉

I seldom fold fitted sheets anymore, favoring the wash them and put them back on the bed method. However I do need to fold one on occasion and when I do it starts out well, but seldom ends well. I usually use the bed to smoothe it as I go, but then it becomes a matter of ’just get it in the linen closet’. Not something I worry too much about.

My multiple sheet sets are all beautifully folded...........because I only buy FLAT sheets! So much easier for me to make the bed as well. It's only me so the sheets stay on just fine. It's all we used growing up so it feels 'normal' enough to me.

I was taught to fold fitted sheets by the mother of the woman I babysat for back when I was 16. My DH, who does the laundry, leaves them for me to fold because he can't get his head around it. I have been known to do "folding a fitted sheet" demonstrations at work when we get new younger teachers into our department who don't know how but would like to :-)

I think I learned from Martha Stewart, on her TV show way back when. I also figured out how to fold both flat and fitted sheets, etc., standing up, without having to lay them on anything.

We used team work when I was a kid, pairing corners while holding it taunt and walking forward to meet each other. This cant be done with an average grown man They will just stand there like mutts.

So I solved the entire problem years ago by using only flat sheets. I use a flat king sheet for a bottom sheet on my queen bed or a california king on a king bed. If you tuck in the top and bottom you dont need to concern yourself unduly with the sides. I tuck in with hospital corners which is what people did before elastic corners came along.

Where does one find sheets big enough for that?! I find it hard enough to find king sheets that have enough length to tuck under the foot, let alone over and under the head. Can’t imagine the few extra inches a cal king gives, being enough.

MS was my source, too…long ago. Sometimes I do it quickly; likely not “MS-approved.”

Deep pocket sheets fit the extra thick mattresses pretty well & that may help foas. But, it’s a real bear to fold the deep pocket fitted sheets - the regular depth sized pockets are hard enough proven by all the traffic on this post!
