You have a Cosmo product. They have an all black version. If you prefer that look, see is your appliance dealer will do an exchange. For a stainless with less stainless look at the Sharp models.

Show the kitchen in its entirety

Julee the pic you show is fine to be able to see the microwave in place. Since you are still in the construction phase, please wait until your kitchen is complete. Right now, every single thing seems to be the focus on its own, but when all is completed and you're living/using the kitchen, that microwave is going to be just fine. You probably will be glad at some point to have one that size.

I think the microwave looks fine. The cooler seems to protrude further than the microwave, so will the cooler have the same cabinet base moulding around it?

This is the cabinet. I wish there was space between the cooler and microwave. I think I am leaning towards keeping the size but changing the microwave to black one!

Agree with the advice to take a deep breath and finish the kitchen, if it still bothers you in 6 months you can consider alternatives

Were I to change ANYTHING? here... It would be the range: ) and lose the bulky riser /back. The micro is fine, change to black if you must, but I would not.

Dan 1888's suggesting of the all black version of the microwave is an excellent one.

The biggest issue is the coming glass smash when someone is not careful to open the LS door carefully by hand and just let's fly. That's a poor location for a MW. And any appliance next to a corner cabinet is a poor design. Replace that with drawers, and just do a small MW on the counter somewhere.

Tell your contractors you want your new counters covered before they have all their tools on them.

^^ Second what pkpk23 said. When we redid our Kitchen, they covered all the counters with a very heavy-duty cardboard as soon as they were installed and kept them covered until the Kitchen was done. This prevents inadvertent staining, etching, scratching, etc.

If you really want to get the black, I would attempt to do it sooner rather than later. I doubt anyone will exchange it after 6 months -- it may be too late even now due to the return window and/or the fact that it's already installed. It's not a defect, you just don't like it.

I understand the concern, and think the placement next to the narrow cooler is the main issue. Not much to do about that now. This would be my course of action:

1) Live with it for a bit and decide if it actually bothers me after I stop staring at it all the time.

2) If I’m still bothered by it, vinyl wrap it in black.

3) If I’m happier with the black, live with it for a while see how well the wrap wears.

4) If I prefer black and the wrap does not wear well, I’d suck it up and buy myself a birthday present. Costlier mistakes have been made.

You are going to need to be very careful with opening and closing the corner cabinet door. Or you will have a $600 door replacement bill.

The corner cabinet should have been hinged the opposite way so the corner cabinet door can open as wide as possible. The microwave protrudes a little so it'll restrict some of the opening allowance. You could request a door be remade and rehinged if you find it to be an issue.
