Need help with designing 8x8 master bathroom

last month

Completely gutted the master bathroom and opting for:
1. Frameless glass walk in shower (36x60 or 66")
2. Standard toilet
3. 60" single sink vanity and
4. Built in cabinets.
5. Pocket door (front, middle wall)
One design we developed was to have the shower on the left side of the entrance enclosed by built in cabinets with the toilet and vanity opposite the shower as there is a window on that wall toward the back of the room.
However, would like other design perspectives to make sure we're thinking of all functional options before install.

Yes! I think we settled on a stool or chair instead of a bench. Great suggestion

Shower too big, counter top small for double vanity. (Yes you CAN have two sinks on a 60” vanity, but it doesn’t really fit). One 8’ side gets 3’ for toilet, 6” demising wall, 54” for shower (I promise that is a big shower). Other side gets a 6’ double vanity and a 24” linen cabinet

54" does seem like a decent shower but with no tub combo I was afraid of it looking too small or not grand enough for the space. Great points!

Can you change the shower to where the vanity is and put the vanity where you have the shower drawn?

If we go with a smaller shower, I think that could work because it's my understanding you need 36" minimum for toilets and roughly 4-6" plumbing wall

My daughter has a shower/tub next to the toilet on a 99 inch wall with a full wall between the tub and toilet Her toilet space is 34 inches and feels very roomy. You could do a 57 inch long shower, a 5 inch wall and then 34 inch toilet space if you have 96 inches,

Why pocket doors? I avoid them on a bathroom unless absolutely necessary. If I've gotta go, I don't want to have to fidget with a pocket pull to close the door.

Some say they allow too much noise and odor to escape. But, I think it depends on the quality of the door and install. We have them on our kitchen and they contain noise and odor well.

I'd reverse. The obsession with huge/dramatic showers is a bit nuts : )

Sixty inches is CROWDING at a vanity, despite you see it all over the internet, and in double sink vanities that length.

Agree on prioritizing the vanity - most folks are at the vanity 2x times a day to get ready for the day and then again to get ready for bed (so more time than what’s spent in a shower) I’d also say plenty of thoughtful storage at the vanity keeps the whole space clutter free and lovely

Draw this to scale and you will see the limitations and what people are speaking of. And I would do everything in my power to avoid having a pocket door there (really anywhere in my opinion).

    Scale.......@ Millworkman

Laundry chute problem, wanting both vanity and shower space, generous.

Half the clients I have close NO door in the bath. Yup. Wide open, so a very good pocket, barely used ? : )

I live alone and have not once closed the bath door, other than to wipe down the back side or get into the open shelved linen behind . Guests....yes it's closed. Jeeshh
