Paint colors for what? The siding? Door? Trim? What?

Not knowing what you're asking for, I'll throw in my two cents: I like the house color you have now, and I really like the black windows. I'd paint the front door a snazzy color that can stand up to the black, and ditch the white trim around the front door -- I'd trim in black to tie in with the windows. The gutters and other trim blend in with the siding so I'd just leave them.

I would also leave it the color you have now. Its a nice color. I also agree that the white trim on your door, should be painted black to match your windows. Also agree, to leave the gutters alone, they already blend in.

The trim around windows is not up. It will be white.

I like the white for your house and I’d do a brilliant red or blue for the front door and the storm door and probably the door trim too. The gutters are fine as-is. Don’t highlight them.

The new windows look great! You say the trim will be even wider? That will make your door trim look even smaller than it already is. Maybe it should be widened too.

Your shrubs could do with a bit of shaping up.

The body of the house as it is now is grey owl. I am considering painting the exterior white. When you suggest a blue or red door would you paint all trim white? Any suggestions for a white paint color? As I mentioned the house does not get a lot of sun in the front.

Or I could go in a completely different direction. A color on the body of the house. Paint all the trim the same color as the body of the house?

I'd delete this question and repost it after the window trim is installed...with photos that don't have glare from the sun.

I'd do white body and white trim. Black door. Classic. Simple. Good with your roof and windows. People love an accent color door. It just doesn't usually float my boat.

They're for the lamppost and porch light. The goal is to reduce light pollution from outdoor fixtures.

• The lamppost is not Useful as it sits in the middle of the lawn and illuminates an area that requires none. It is also not Targeted as it shines in all directions.
• The porch light is not Targeted as it shines into the yard and onto the wall. A lamp such as this Bradford wall sconce would be a great choice as it would illuminate only the areas that need it: the porch and walkway.
• If additional lighting of the walkway were needed, path lights (example) would be the fixtures to use.

I understand your comments about outdoor lighting but I use my lamppost every night because I live in a dark area with no street lighting and it provides security. l will definitely keep my lamppost

Lighting grass doesn't provide security and you're fortunate to live somewhere that actually has dark nights. But a dark-sky compatible post light would at least be more targeted:

What I meant by security is that the lamppost lights up enough that I that I can see the road in front of my house. If I didn’t have that light it would be pitch black. That is security to me. It helps. If you saw my street you would understand.

Lighting a road does not provide security. It just, well, lights the road for a short distance and blocks the view of the stars. If visitors need guidance to reach the house, you can place path lights along the driveway. The yard light may also annoy neighbors. You're lucky to live in a place that has darkness, something city dwellers miss.

I live in the city, and also need to find my way around outside after its dark out, and it gets pitch black in my area too, so yes, I also use lights, in front, and on the sides, and in the back of my house, and also on the front of my workshop. It is great security, because, I can see quite a distance, if there is anyone messing around, from all directions, so I well understand your need for lighting. Some may live where they dont need to have lighting like that, but, a lot of us do.

If you can "see quite a distance" then you obviously don't care about light pollution or Dark Sky principles. As for security, what's the probability that you happen to be looking where "anyone is messing around"? ~Zero. It's false security, you may be annoying your neighbors by installing excessive lighting, and you may be helping burglars by attracting them and illuminating your house. If you want security, install motion sensor lights near your house that would be triggered by criminals and would illuminate areas when you are in them.

I have motion sensor lights o. The back of my house as to not bother my neighbors. I’m done talking g to you so stop postin.
