I am a fan of both Athleta and Spanx .. from Athleta I wear their leggings or venice joggers with the Pranayama cardi .. spanx I have a couple of diff options from the Air Essentials line. I believe they both come in petites if you need.

I have been considering a cotton velour outfit from Pact. I dont usually like velour-- but the 100% cotton velour is intriguing.

I come home in the Winter & put on cute sweats. I have a fleece lined, black, long sleeved top that has a copper zipper that starts at the turtleneck and goes across the chest. It's CUTE! Or...a red Under Armour hoodie. Then fleece fitted pants or black leggings.

^^^^ I also am a fan of Athleta + have something from Spanx Air Essentials line. I also have a few cashmere items from Quince. I have way too much stuff from lululemon - my SO has purchased a lot of stuff from there over the past 15-16 years my niece loves the hand-me-downs). I think the quality used to be better.

Qs - Do you run hot or cold? Do you like long pants/sleeves for winter? Are there any materials that you dislike? Knowing the foregoing would be helpful.

I don't really purchase items from VS - but my sister has this set and said that the material feels really nice. On sale currently. They also have ones without such wide pants.

The next ones are from Nordstrom. I personally don't like wearing long pants to bed.

Around the house I'm typically wearing these Colorfulkoala brand leggings. I find the leggings comfortable enough to sleep in. (I sometimes take them on trips to sleep in when my husband insists on making the hotel room absolutely sub-zero to sleep.)

Then on top I'm usually in a light sports bra and a tank top like this one by brand CRZ Yoga.

If it's chilly, I'll throw on a sweatshirt and some wool socks.

It's not something I'd wear out to the grocery store, though I think that many people would. I would wear it to walk the dog. But I'm also not embarrassed if I bump into a neighbor in the front yard or have a repair person come to the house.

Then up the street, they got a double order of plants and wanted to donate them to the HOA landscaping. I was wearing a pink Adidas t-shirt & grey leggings and still was asked if I had sleepwear on...🥱

A neighbor who I had never met before showed up at my door a few weeks ago. She was planning a neighborhood gathering. I was wearing exercise clothes, basically. I didn’t think I looked awful. When I showed up to the gathering, she went on about how ”different” I looked and finally said something like ”I don’t think you expected visitors that day.” Well, duh.

If I am hanging around the house and not expecting company, I am wearing Athleta jogger type pants and a t-shirt or sweatshirt, or old-school sweatpants and sweatshirt. You know, that ”I might be headed out to the gym” look. Even thought I’m lounging on the couch reading.

Thanks for all the recommendations. Yes I am looking for something for colder weather at this point. While I like the fabric to feel nice, I'm less fussy about materials. They shouldn't feel cold to the touch like some polyesters do. Cotton blends and such would be fine as would fleece. I have a very old fleece set that was made out of actual sweatshirt material that I like....even though it has the harem pants which went out of style and have since come back in. Only thing is it's shocking pink!

I like what Funkyart posted, though not velour. The top nicole posted is nice too as it let's you zip up if you're cold or unzip for a hot flash! And it's big and loose enough to wear over yoga pants or leggings...though my preference when it's cold is not leggings as they aren't as warm as other choices.

The one thing I really like is something with a collar...I find if I keep the back of my neck warm, then I'm warm. The other issue is, I want to be able to wear it without a bra and look ok -- which is really hard as without one, my girls are darn near down to my knees! Exaggeration, but ykwim!

And yes mtnrd, people still come to my front door without texting first, including a car full of people running for office the other day on the campaign trail. And the 'fisher boys' come without warning either....teens in the neighborhood who like to fish our pond. And of course, even if it seldom happens, the one time it does is when I'm in my ratty PJs or something worse!

Annie, I think most of the above can BE outfits-- most have matching colors but you just have the choice of a variety of bottoms (wide leg, straight leg, leggings etc).

I think the color of the talbots set would look lovely on you.

A top like this looks more finished with the matching bottoms...also Talbots.

I like the collar on this one for staying warm and looking not so much like sweats or pjs...

I like the tan one you posted, and now that our weather is finally cooling down, I'm reminded that I appreciate a warm neck.

I get unsolicited knocks on my door, and I'm not worried about being presentable to them, to be honest. My go-to loungewear in winter are yoga pants, tank top, and long cardigan. But I'm seeing a lot of sets like those posted here. They look purposeful, and, therefore, presentable.

Another option that you could play with: black leggings (hmm maybe fleece lined), black tee, and a long cardigan. I like the Prayawhateveritscalled cardigan from Athleta because it’s long and loose and yes, can cover whatever is sagging underneath. Or you could top the tee with a longer flannel shirt or chambray shirt (check out oversized shirts at the Gap). Oversized chambray shirt seems artsy to me, so you could look like you’re just taking a break from the pottery wheel when you answer the door.

I just received the Quince cashmere pants with a drawstring waist. They are really nice looking and confortable but they are at least four inches too long :( If yhe length worked for you those and a similarly colored sweater would be my pick for ”lounge” wear.

It is in the 40s this morning and am wearing the pranayama cardi that Sue mentioned from Athleta right this minute -- wearing it with butter soft jogger/leggings and a tank. A little later in the season I will wear it with a turtleneck. It is so comfy-- but presentable enough that I took out the trash in it (on a road that is fairly busy at this time of day).

I recently bought some comfy velour loungewear from 32 Degrees - matching tops and pants. However for me personally, anything that provides enough coverage to answer the door has way too much fabric for me to sleep in. So I have lounge wear and sleep wear. Works for me because no one I'd want to answer the door for ever stops by unexpectedly; i.e. when I'm in my sleep wear.

Good point, Kswl.. I just wouldnt answer the door in what I sleep in (especially because I rarely wear any pajamas in bed).

Just to be clear, I'm not planning on sleeping in these....I have sleeping clothing already. It's more of a gotta get dressed but want to be more comfortable than jeans. Of course, the big factor for comfort has to do with bra/no-bra! The long sweater thing may be an option from that POV for sure. It would also help in that, in winter, once we get the wood stove cranking, it gets very hot in the FR and having a sweater I can peel off would be nice. I do have a long sweater in my drawer that I should pull out. I've not really worn it because it's so long, but for lounging, it may be the right thing.

In the heat of the summer, I have a muumuu I throw on... something like what's pictured... better than a house dress, covers everything, most comfortable, and is presentable, but nothing I'd ever sleep in. Great for putting on after working outside and taking a shower and want to be comfortable, but it's not bedtime yet.

I wear leggings and a collared 3/4 zip. I choose a top that is oversized enough that a true bra, or none at all, is optional. For my overnight flight recently I did not want to wear a bra as it impedes sleep, so I wore a soft bralette from Bombas. I found it very comfy.

I wear this most months of the year. In July and August if it is very hot (rarely), I wear something akin to a bathing suit cover up.

Yes, that neighbor is sort of an odd duck. She is an older German woman who seems to say whatever is on her mind, and with a stern German accent, she’s a little intimidating!

Funky, LOL, I am wearing the same cardigan in dark green with black leggings and a tee. After a busy few days, today is a hibernation day for me. I did a little weight lifting routine in my leggings and tee, then threw on the cardigan, which is always hanging on a hook on the back of my bedroom door.

Annie, I am also a fan of the muumuu, haha. My version is a sleeveless casual dress from Columbia sportswear.

Funny, Sue! But not surprising--they are just that easy! Mine is gray today-- not my favorite but it was the one hanging on the hook in my bedroom. I was just thinking I need to collect them from the various hooks across my house and keep them all together.

I'd be looking at athleisure, yoga, athletic brands for their sets. It seems like joggers and wide leg athletic pants are very in right now. Some to consider: Athleta, Prana, Vuori.

I’ll start by saying I’m a big Athleta fan and have been wearing their stuff for a really long time, like before they had stores everywhere. Lulu is a distant second for me because of the fit as are several other brands, including Talbots. I have the dress posted above and a shorter version that is really a long quarter zip sweatshirt. Not sure they still have that. I also have 2 Pranayamas which are great for throwing on anytime. There are several versions of a sweatshirt type top, both short and long styles, and plenty of options for pants from fitted leggings to joggers to wide legs. I find most of their clothing fine for lounging or running errands and it’s my go-to clothing most days. A plus is that something is almost always on sale.

I also like Vuori’s clothing a lot and have a few tops I wear to work out or Pilates and a few pair of long pants. They are very soft and lightweight. They hardly ever are on sale. I love to lounge in the pants too. They run short and only have a few tall sizes. Now, since i seem to have shrunk a little, I don’t care.

I'll second the recommendation of 32 degrees. I haven't bought anything this year, but over the past maybe 5 years, I have bought a lot ( some from Costco and some direct from their website). The quality is indestructable, and the prices are so cheap that you might shy away from it. I'm not really sure how they do it, and I kind of don't want to know. Link to 32 Degrees

Just thought I'd add that I was at Costco yesterday and they had a good deal of the 32 degrees stuff, as well as some of their own Kirkland brand that would fit the bill.

Well, since I went looking for some outfits, I am now being inundated on line with ads from all kinds of places I never heard of with their lounging outfits! It's amazing!

Here's a top that looks comfy without looking like PJs that would go with leggings, from Soft Surroundings... higher neck to keep warm without strangulating.

Skipping down to report I wear coordinating, but not matching, PJ bottoms and a soft knit top, and a cozy fleece bathrobe - the robe is what makes the rest presentable 🙂

Spanx is having a big sale right now. I mentioned in the shoping thread that I bought this pictured below. It came today and I like it very much. And with the sale, both peices together were around $70. I thought it was an amazing deal.

I think this is also on sale, but was a bit more expensive. I already own this in a different color so I skipped it this sale. Although I like this color way more than the one I have.

Jsk.. I have bought a few basic tops from Pact. The quality was good and about what I would expect for the price point. I will say the sizing was generous.

I saw the sale on Spanx -- I was annoyed it came after I accidentally bought two full zip jackets. I was tempted to get another outfit for myself but didnt land on a color so I let it pass.

How is it we always order stuff right before a sale? Yesterday one of my trusty Brumate cups broke in the dishwasher. One of the plastic parts finally broke (I've had it for years). Went on line and bought a new one yesterday because I love them. Today I see they started their early black friday sale. 20% off. Sigh.

I am in the middle of a clothing purge and reorganization. I will probably order at least one additional lounge outfit but I will wait for now.. maybe until BF.

Today I received an email from Eileen Fisher and they have brought back the navy blue skirted leggings!!!!! Many of the reviews complain about the legs being much too long so I ordered a Petite Medium instead of the small I would normally have chosen. Fingers crossed for these—my old gray and black ones have stretched out over the years and are now a bit baggy so I haven’t been wearing them. if these fit I will have loungewear 😬
