Do I need a door to guest bedroom

We are building a guest suite and we are planning a pocket door off the main hallway that once you walk in will have a bathroom on the right and straight ahead will be the entrance to a 12x12 bedroom. we are debating if there should be a doorway and door for the bedroom when the bathroom will have a door and the entry from the hallway to the guest suite will have a door thank you for any input

Hard to know without a layout - but if it is like a hotel room, then probably no additional door to the bedroom. I would do a solid/regular door to the suite instead of a pocket door

I agree we need to see the plan If the bathroom is only for over night guests then I guess the pocket door looks a little less obvious than an actul door.

Initially was going to say "yes" to the bedroom door thinking that the bathroom might also be used as a powder room. But if that bath will only be used by guests it probably wouldn't be necessary.

I would do whatever I could to not use a pocket door for a door that will get regular use. A floor plan will help you get the best advice as descriptions seldom tell the entire story.

Apparently there is no "ensuite" in that the guest must totally exit the bedroom to access the bath?

I'd want a solid/swinging door at the hallway entry point to the guest quarters. I'd want a lock on that too : )

Show the plan, and make me change my mind.

I will wait to see the floor plan this seems a bad idea from the start.

Thank you all so much for your input i will get a floor plan posted and yes, the bathroom is not ensuite it just outside the bedroom. the entire area will have a door frim the hall and its only purpose is for overnight guests. the plumbing is on the wall that is next to the bedroom which is why we are not going ensuite. we can move the plumbing if needed but it seemed to be enough privacy without doing that

If you don't put a door at the bedroom, then ensure that the door(not pocket) will be lockable.

You don't need a door to the bedroom unless it will be used by people other than the guests in the bedroom.

it wont be used by others, there is a powder room just a few steps down the main hallway. does this layout look like it works?

We have the exact same layout for the entry to our primary bedroom and bath and our guest bedroom and bath. We consider the little hallway outside the bed and bath to be a "vestibule". We have three swinging doors in this area. They greatly contribute to a feeling of deep privacy and retreat. All of our guests have commented on this feeling and we feel the same way when we have guest in our home and just want some separation from them. Closing two doors makes you feel sealed off and in a world of your own. It makes your guest space feel more like a guest wing.

I would never, ever put a pocket door on a bathroom if it could at all be avoided. (Sometimes it cannot.) Our bathroom is the same size and layout as yours. We manage easily with three hinged doors in this area.

we can put a pocket door at the entrance to the suite ( small hallway to the bathroom and then bedroom) or the bathroom.they woukd be locking doors. I dont want it to the bathroom because they make more noise to open and close if we have couple staying and one person gets up at night to use the bathroom. We have one regular door and two pockets doors left from other parts of the renovation and would ideally use these so we dont have to find matching doors but if it makes for a less desirable design then we will keep looking for a match. and kendrah, i agree on closing two doors as giving a greater feeling of privacy
