The citric acid in citrus (not where it comes from as a commercial product, btw!) is in the pulp, not in the water resistant peel. Soaking them, even in 40 celcius water, is not going to remove any citric acid.

UpperBayGardener, you are absolutely correct that that video is nonsense (i tested it on a small amount of mandarins, and it was baloney). And no, I absolutely did not subscribe.

I stupidly ate some mandarins without taking the time to buffer them with yogurt. Predictably i wound up with nasal drip and cough for weeks afterward, despite nursing myself with french toast and peppermint-patties. That's how bad my autoimmune system is. But the latter food does help alot to stabilize (thicken) nasal drips which precisely mimick flu symptoms. Had i figured out all these sorts of strategies long ago, my issues would not have degenerated as much as they did. Ditto re: migraine and abdominal strategies, which i also figured out too late in life.
