Upright vacuum recs, please

I would like a new upright vacuum for a very specific purpose -- to keep my laundry/mudroom clean. This is our main point of entry into the house, and debris is always getting tracked in there. I've come to terms with the fact that I need to store an upright in the garage just outside the entry door that I can grab and do a quick clean-up; dragging the canister out from the closet down the hall is just too much hassle. I hauled up an old Simplicity vac from the basement that works okay and serves its purpose, but I find that because it lacks a powehead (rotating power brush) it doesn't do as good a job on the floor mats as I'd like it so. So, I'd like to invest in something that does a better job.

What I want:

  • Lightweight and relatively compact -- don't need a full-size here (I realize lightweight is also a relative term...)
  • Bagged. It MUST utilize bags. I do not like bagless vacuums.
  • Rotating brush/power head
  • Corded (to save weight and I don't have a convenient place to charge in proximity to this room)

What recommendations do you have for me?
