I have found that it works best if you position the largest piece of furniture first. Try turning the bed so headboard is between the sconces.

Do not start another post!!!! Now, take some photos and give measurements of the available wall space. Hint: no rug in the room for now. Down the road maybe one under the bed; wait until you have everything arranged in the room.

Desk: at the foot of the bed with some kind of window treatment to make the bed/desk a space of its own.

If you can post a floor plan showing all dimensions it would be easier for everyone to be able make any suggestions. I also would prefer to see the headboard on the wall where the 2 sconces are but need dimensions of the room for that.

Ive hand mapped a floor plan numerous times - find it easier but I still need to improve ( also limited resources at this moment, please excuse it for the time :( - trying to get a good digital one together as well)

I put the bed between the sconces at first, but it left very little room at the foot for my desk and chair. It was tight. And I was very adamant for a while about keeping the bed in that spot, but it just didnt work living wise.
There are curtains that will be going up on the window about 1 ft over the top of the window.

One win was the sconces were terrible before (white blue LED lights from a nightmare bachelor pad), and I was able to replace them myself.

Ceilings are about 12 ft

Replace your desk with one that is longer and narrower and has storage.

I agree with a different desk that is thinner and works in the space better. Also agree with moving the bed.

I'd look at your closet for storage. Often, rental closet have only a pole for hanging clothes and nothing else. Then, I'd consider standard bits of furniture --- dresser, bookshelf, credenza --- that are found in bedrooms and offices. How much of your needs would any one of them meet?

Yes you need storage no it does not need to be fun only practical. and IMO simple The ceilings do not look 12' to me but could be camera angle. Sorry but how can you work on that cluttered desk so maybe start there and get storage for the office part since that is how you pay the rent. Maybe a good purge to start and I agree a closet organizedr can be ahuge help . IMO a bed with storage under it is ahuge help in these spaces I like renees ideas along that wall to help. But really you need to empty that space and then figure out what you NEED. Graph paper is what helps do to scale plans so just do that.. In small spaces incehs count so a bed without that frame all around would also be better . Do you just rent a room or is this an apartment?

Suggest trying the bed against the wall (not a big deal when making bed), place the desk under the window and it can double time as a nightstand. Remove whatever you can (put in a small container under the desk), add a better lamp, and use a less bulky chair. I’d skip adding drapes/will only clutter room visually. Closet organization is a given. Fun can be added with decor/art and address when room is set up.

You‘ll now have a longer wall, gaining functionality/storage/needed surface space. It’s important to consider what combination will meet your needs and measure the available wall’s length. Would a dresser and tall unit do the trick and you can even buy second hand and paint to suit the rest of the room.

The biggest, tallest antique armoire you can afford and that can fit next to your desk, and through your doors/stairs/elevator. It stores everything and you keep every other surface completely clear. I like Sigrid's floor plan. It will be he jewel of the room but do the most work with regards to storage.
