bar area recommendations

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions / ideas I could do to make this area (in the kitchen) more appealing. My husband doesn’t want liquor on display and I already have floating shelving on either side of my oven hood.

I think it’s lovely as is, but if you want to add to it you can have sconces on either side of the picture. Interesting bar equipment such as a wine aerator and other decorative pieces on the counter may dress it up.

I was thinking some color on counter & inside cabinets. I wouldn’t add sconces with the light over the art. It would look nice to have lights inside the 2 glass door cabinets to light up sparkly glass ware. Maybe some wine decanters on the counters. That plant - something’s off with it. Maybe a lower plant in a colorful pot & set it on the other side of the cabinet - closer to art.

The painting adds a lot to the space, but the picture light seems much too short. (Our lighting designer used much longer ones for ours.) Place a fuller plant on the left of the painting. I love hanging a nice french bar towel a kitchen / bar area for a little texture.

IDK. I just wanted to chime in and say that's a great piece of artwork! Maybe bring in some blue doo-dads or runner/area rug to play off the painting.

Functionally it acts as a beverage center. It would be a great spot for tea and coffee, and tea sets are so nice to display.

Coffee, tea, snack bar is option.

Place a compact espresso machine or coffee maker just to the right of the sink (keeps cords out of sight and easy access to water).

Add a small canister set for coffee beans, tea bags, or sugar.

Left side counter

Use this area as your prep and presentation zone.

A tray with mugs, spoons, and napkins.

A small cake stand or covered snack dish for baked goods or snacks.

Keep your plant for height and freshness.

Right side counter

Great spot for a snack basket or fruit bowl — think seasonal fruit, granola bars, or nuts in clear jars.

You could also add a small cutting board leaning against the backsplash as a textural accent.

Upper cabinets (wood/glass ones):

Store attractive coffee cups, glasses, and snack jars (nuts, biscotti, granola).

Use neutral containers (ceramic, glass, or rattan baskets) to keep things looking tidy and intentional.
