Flat Paint Stains?

last year

We noticed this stain in our bathroom and a few similar marks in other spots in our bedroom, which is connected to bathroom. Is this a flat paint issue with moisture? What is the solution? Or is it something more concerning? Has anyone seen this before?

Is the solution to get a better quality paint?

The solution is to figure out what is going on on the other side of the wall.

Do the users take long hot showers?

Does the bathroom have an exhaust fan? Does it get used? If yes, is it left on for 30 minutes after people shower?

Is someone walking around with a drink cup/container and accidentally spilling some?

Can the stains be wiped clean or are they permanent once they show up?

You need to figure out what it is and why it is happening, before you know how to fix it.

There are spots on both exterior and interior so I don’t think it’s moisture related from outside or plumbing. But yes we take long hot showers, hoping it’s just surface leaching from that?

The stains are permanent but I believe it’s due to the flat paint soaking it in.
