ruggable rug pros/cons

Anyone have a ruggable rug?? Have heard pros/cons. I am considering one of the newer all in one tufted rugs but have seen mixed reviews.

I have several of the kind that need a pad. I love the washability. but keeping the pad clean was a problem. Not supposed to wash them, but the one in the kitchen got crumbs under it and NEEDED to be washed. So I washed it and it was fine. But I found getting the clean rugs back on the pads to be problematic. I have a couple runners and a 4x6 in front of the sink in the kitchen. It's almost impossible to get the rug back on the pad without a 2nd person to help. They stick like velcro and it is hard to get them on straight and to pull out the wrinkles.

So when I got an ad for the new style that doesn't require a pad, I sent for one right away. I loved a pattern I saw. I’m using it now and I LOVE it. So much so that I sent for another for my entry way ( a 10' runner) and a small 2x3 that goes on a little landing in the entry. My grandson sits on the stairs there to put his shoes on and off and I keep a rug there to contain debris that comes in on his shoes. I can't wait to get rid of the ones with the pad.

I have a runner behind my island/sink, they’re very thin, washed it once, came out like new.

Some reviews have said the rugs dont hold up well; can look wrinkled etc, dont know if the newer all in one tufted is a better option and is not so obvious that its stamped on vs a woven rug.

I had a runner rug for in front of my kitchen sink. I bought the extra thick pad, but the pad was too small for the rug. The ends of the rug curled up because they were loose.

I got my money back.

They appear to have one now that’s an all in one with no pad needed.

I have a 7’ long runner with pad, no issues re placing it back on after washing, …. Did it alone. All in one sounds nice though .

I picked up a washable rug that has a removable top layer and washable pad underneath, and I’ve been happy with it. Pros: super easy to clean when messes happen, stays looking fresh. Cons: it’s more expensive than a basic rug, and on slick floors the pad underneath can shift a bit if it’s not anchored. If you’re looking at “all‑in‑one” tufted types, check the thickness, cleaning instructions, and whether the backing keeps it in place.
