Floof: How much caffeine do you take every day?

last month

I was reading how much difference there is in different brands of coffee, both brewed and instant. One can ask Google and it will come up with the amount your brand has. And of course there is caffeine in some sodas.

What's your caffeine intake?

I have my own tiny 4-cup Mr Coffee maker. ”Four cups” equals 1-1/2 cups in my mug. I usually finish the first cup and get about halfway through the ”half” cup. I have no idea how much caffeine that works out to. I finally found a coffee that doesn’t aggravate my laryngeal reflux. I order it online.

Some days I will have a cup of green tea or chai tea midday. No caffeine for me after 1 pm or so.

ZERO caffeine each day. I've never been a coffee drinker + I don't drink soda. I only drink water.

I make protein smoothies - but I make them more like a smoothie bowl that requires a spoon to eat.

Thanks to that jerk I live with, GERD, I have to get caffeine-free coffee and Diet Coke (my guilty pleasure). I think there’s still a bit of caffeine even in decaf, but it doesn’t seem to affect me too much.

  • last month

    None.

I do drink iced tea (homemade decaf) a few times a week so techncially that means a bit of caffeine. I have never been a coffee drinker or cola.

My fave teas are now fruit tisanes, mint, and chamomile.

I allow myself 2 cups of black tea a day. I very rarely drink alcohol or soda.

We don sometimes enjoy real sugar Pepsi.

I drink a thermos cup full of coffee every morning. 🤷‍♀️ how many cups that is, thinking it’s at least 16 ounces 😱 and a decaf with steamed skim milk foam topped with cinnamon every afternoon. All homemade, no I did not pick the beans 😂

2-3 cups of Peet’s dark roast, however much that is. In the afternoon and evening I drink decaf chai tea or iced berry zinger.

I hate soda, not a lover of alcohol, drink of choice is water

I have 1 cup of coffee a day. I use a ” glug” of 1/2 & 1/2 in it. We mix = amounts of Starbucks Mocha and a variety of their medium strength . I used to have 2 big cups dark roast with 1/2&1/2 every day or I would get caffeine withdrawl headaches that were disabling. Sometime in the past few years they went away and this past year I lost my taste for a lot of coffee.

I use 4 Tbsp of coffee to 6c water using the marks on the cheapo drip pot.

I used to use the French press and grind beans … all that stuff. I don’t seem to care and neither does DH .

I never have anything else with caffeine. I haven’t had a soft drink in decades and I hate tea unless its ginger if I am ill.

The protein shake I consume almost daily has about 50 milligrams of caffeine. I don't consume caffeine in any other form.

  • last month

12-16 oz. Peet's French Roast first thing in the morning. Nespresso #8 or #9 latte in the afternoon. No other caffeine, no soda.

I usually have 2 cups on work days and sometimes 3 on the weekends. DH will have one cup at home and take a travel mug. We use Folgers classic roast so it's not super high in caffeine. I don't drink caffeine other than the morning otherwise I will be up at night. Any teas are usually herbal caffeine free. DH drinks caffeine free diet coke.

I make a 6 oz cup of coffee every morning in my Keurig. I may drink half of it. Not every day, but many days, I also drink about half a can of Coke. I open it at lunch and generally sip on it until about 3 when I pitch it usually still half full.

I hate water and I desparately need to drink more. I’m looking for ways to make it tastier. Our water doesn’t taste bad. It is very good water. I’ve never liked water. I have found a Spindrift flavor I like, Nojito - lime and mint, but I can only stomach about half a can.

I use Trader Joe's light roast with a French press, and then run it thru a filter before drinking. It's the only coffee I can tolerate anymore, because I don't eat breakfast and have to drink it black. I drink 2 cups before noon. I do not like any other coffee, from anywhere. Period. In the last few sips, mix in creatine and wash it down.

I've been drinking coffee since high school. In winter, I'll occasionally have black or green tea early afternoon. In the evenings, a seasonal herbal tea.

Very little to none. Not much of a coffee drinker, an iced every now and then and its decaf. I like hot green tea with a splash of pineapple juice and lime, again decaf. Water through tbe day and decaf iced tea for dinner.

I have two cups(about 12-14 oz I guess) of Peets Maj. Dickenson(dark roast) every morning. A splash of reg. milk, no sugar. I do not have any other caffeine after that. I don't drink soft drinks and I don't drink tea. It really effects my sleep. I do have a Nespresso machine and occasionally will make a decaf cappuccino in the afternoon.

I have a minimum of one 10 oz cup of caffeine coffee, usually 2 per day.

I love the taste of coffee and am also a caffeine addict so I need my coffee.

I wake up very early and have first cup right away. Sometimes I switch to decaf right after or sometimes I have my 2nd cup of caffeine right away. I probably drink 2 to 3 cups of decaf per day, through the day.

I do not have caffeine after 12.

I do drink soda, but not that much and rarely with caffeine.

Caffeine makes my tremors much worse, so I've avoided it for decades. Caffeine shows up in other products (ice cream, energy drinks, headache meds) and I've learned to look for it and avoid it. I do drink decaf (Peet's) knowing that it has trace amounts. My fave protein drink (currently) is a frozen banana, cut up, a cup of unsweetened almond milk, a scoop of chocolate whey protein and maybe heaping spoonful of greek yogurt. It's about 300 calories and about 30 grams of protein.

I have one and sometimes two cups of tea in the morning Harney's Paris or Patrick's Blend, which is sublime, from the owner/chef at the Inn at Little Washington. Never have been a coffee drinker.

I drink two cups of brewed coffee with a splash of almond milk most days. I will ocassionally have an iced tea later in the day, and I drink decaf hot tea in the winter. I also eat a small piece of dark chocolate daily. I didn’t start drinking coffee until I was in my forties.

Just for fun I asked Google about chocolate: A standard 1.5 oz Hershey's Milk Chocolate bar contains about 9 mg of caffeine.

  • last month

Chocolate definitely has caffeine, but it has very little effect on me. Unlike coffee which makes me feel like a high-voltage tower.

  • last month

Started drinking one cup of green tea a day for health reasons when I retired.

No coffee ever ( just don't care for it) and no soda with caffeine ever.

    How about you Lucille?

  • last month

My intake is about 140 mg, 100 from coffee, 40 from my Sunkist Orange singles to go (that's the actual name of the drink, it's not describing me). I am currently trying to lose weight so I only dream about chocolate.

  • last month

I probably have 3-4 cups of coffee a day (today it was 3) stopping by 5:00 and then sleepytime tea after dinner.

No pop (soda) at all. Gosh the last time I drank that I would have been a teenager.

  • last month

None. I never have. Though sometimes I wonder if just a bit from green tea or decaf black tea would give me a nice boost.

  • last month

I have a decent-sized mug (not a big mug) of coffee with one sugar cube and one raw sugar and half and half. That's my guilty pleasure of sugar every morning. No more caffeine during the day, unless I feel I need a little energy (maybe twice a month?) and tired and have plans for the evening-then I'll do a shot of espresso-which I do not like, but I down it. No more caffeine during the day.

I've really tried to like hot tea-but it seems to make my mouth feel funny (dry) after I drink it-and I just never acquired the taste for it.

I am currently trying to lose weight so I only dream about chocolate.

My unsolicited advice - have some chocolate. Foods should not be verboten. Just have less if you'd rather be smaller.

  • last month

@Kendrah if you consume no caffeine, you will definitely get a "boost" if you have a cup of tea. My DH only drinks water, and I know immediately if he tried to ward off a bad headache with Excedrin Migraine - he gets very talkative - I call him Chatty Cathy!

According to the googmeister based on my brand, one mug of coffee, ~12oz, is somewhere between 179 - 247mg which is oddly specific. Not 180 - 250, not 175 - 245! When I have chocolate, my preferred dark squares are about 25-30mg ea.

I recently cut back from 24 oz. coffee in the morning to 12, and 12 oz. of green tea - that's about it.

  • last month

Very little. I don’t drink coffee or tea. I’ll sometimes have a Diet Dr. Pepper (prefer the small cans) or a Diet Coke (fountain only). I think there’s about 40 mg of caffeine in 12 ounces
