kitchen cabinets

last month

Hello! I am looking for advice for my kitchen cabinets. The walls are Swiss coffee and the trim is Chantilly lace by Benjamin Moore. I’m looking to paint my kitchen cabinets. What do you think of this picture? It is booth bag gray on the bottom and Chantilly lace on the top? My countertops are a top brown. This is a mock up from ChatGPT.

All depends on what your entire kitchen looks like. Need to see the flooring, countertop, how your kitchen is set up, etc.

THat looks terrible with those brown counters. Brown counters will rule the world here. And you need to post pictures of them, and everything else that exists in your space. Not a rendering.

i dont think the representation is good. the base looks blue. best to show what you have now..your starting position and what is the reason for the project..long term goals etc.

Here are some pictures. I’m trying to paint them on a budget. My kitchen is attached to my family room so I’m trying to make some cohesion between the two of them. Any advice would be appreciated!

I think the cabinet fatigue of those is understandable. People do take the risk and perform DIY paint jobs . Outcomes in these situations vary, One thing I would absolutely do first is price out new door fronts for all the uppers in MDF primed with NO arch. ready to paint. and then the same source with their provided white paint on new fronts no arch....white or light from a few to choose...maybe? the uppers are nice and tall to ceiling so sticking w the same carcasses and layout I could see that investment. See what you find and then if it interests you consider painting the lowers..they are in an alcove configuration so you may not have to worry about a few brush strokes showing..still do as best DIY as you can of course. I dont dislike the two tone....not sure about the actual ones you picked. Arent you keeping the existing counter and floor..pls refresh our memories. If you end up w white or near white uppers you can get a backsplash w various beiges and light shades in the tiles ,,,theres a lot of that now,

you want those uppers to look good for the cost and effort ......think about new w a primed surface or with painted surface provided. Consider DIY the lowers at your speed. [ trying to figure out how you can get this done to make you satisfied. ]

Yes, I’m definitely keeping the existing counter and floor. Backsplash maybe in the future but not happening anytime soon. I am working on a very, very, very small budget.

The ChatGPT's representation of your countertops isn't close to the true color of your countertops.

It looks like the cabinets are in good shape + they go up to the ceiling. It would be nice to replace the doors. It's not that expensive to do ($12/sf for each door). Raile cabinetry is a good option (they have a website + are on Etsy where you can see photos posted by customers). Raile has options for unfinished/primed/fully finished replacement doors. Scherr's also has nice wood replacement doors (Raile does mdf ones).

Make sure that you do all of the prep work necessary to have a nice finish. Also, buying a spray gun will make a big difference. If you look on Amazon - and look at the photos for a few different spray guns, you will see how smooth the finish can be. Also, if you go on FaceBook, you can find some painting groups - there is one that has pros that help provide advice to DIYers re: products to use + proper prep. If you use a pro finish, you will have much better durability.

For your kitchen, I would choose all white cabinets in a white that coordinates with your existing wall colour and trim if you are keeping them as well as flooring, countertop, and backsplash. Actually, Swiss Coffee would work well for your kitchen.

This video lays out all the steps and materials you'll need to do a quality job using BM Advance cabinet paint. Buying the recommended airless sprayer and everything else will run you 600-800 diy and take at least 5 days of your time. $6000-8000 for the same job by a cabinet painting crew.
