Pastel Baby Quilt

I've finally been able to put something together in these past several months. I snapped a picture of this pattern online months ago just because. It was easy to figure out using a pastel charm pack I found for the project for my daughter's good friend who is due in late November. Since my DH & I will be with her for Christmas, I will pack this little beauty for the new arrival! Still have to sandwich and quilt, but its only 39"X45", so small enough for me to avoid quilt as you go this time!

So soft-looking and sweet. A lovely baby gift. Are you able to find fabric and batting where you are, or did you have to take it all with you?

Lois, unfortunately I have not found any shops in the islands we have visited that has 100% cotton quilt fabrics. I know there is a hand dye batik factory and shop on Andros Island in the Bahamas, but we were not able to stop there on the way south.

When I was in Tampa recently, I ordered from MDG, Etsy, Keepsake Quilting & Batiks Etc and filled a duffle bag with fabric & some other supplies. I have found that customs are not particularly stringent about searching baggage, especially when you report on what is in the bag.. "It's fabric, I make quilts on my boat". I think they are somewhat confused because quilting is not a thing here.

They only opened 1 bag in 6 trips and result was the same..."OK, go on. All is good" lol.

That's so pretty! I would be thrilled to receive it and I hope your daughter's friend is too.

Your comment on "quilting is not a thing here" reminded me of a trip we went on in Bali. We stayed in a villa which had housekeeping staff. I knit a lot, mostly for charity, so my knitting stuff goes with me wherever I travel. I was making a sweater, and would take it to breakfast to knit while we were waiting, and usually had it on the go when we had other meals or snacks brought to our villa. The staff were fascinated by it and asked what I was making. I told them it was a sweater, but since a sweater is rarely (if ever) required in Bali, they couldn't get their heads around it so usually when someone brought our food or came to clean the villa they would ask how my "T shirt" was coming along. :-D

Colleenoz, that is exactly the case in Grenada. Too warm to worry about making quilts most won't use! I have given several away, though. To locals that we have gotten to know well. It does get down in the 70's at night afterall, lol!

I still have to sandwich the pastel quilt, but busy waxing the Shelagh's deck section by section...between the raindrops
