GE Monogram 5 in 1 Oven

last month

My wife is considering putting one of these in our new build but we have no experience with them. Cooking fast is not a real selling point, nor are the preset programs, etc. Her need is to save space by combining a microwave and second oven into one unit. She wants to understand how well this thing functions as an oven. Can she bake a cake, roast vegetables, cook a casserole, etc and have it come out as well as a normal oven?

    1. This is a 27"-wide oven. Is this the required size rather than the more common 30"?
    2. Will this oven be mounted under the counter or above it?
    3. Will you have available a 240-volt circuit or only 120-volt?

Is this a second oven? I.e., do you have a range or another wall oven?

I think it would be fine as a second oven, but likely not a primary. It looks like it's basically an Advantium, which has been around for decades.

Be aware the MW is only 975 watts, not 1,000 to 1,200 that most people are used to. My Sharp MW drawer is also < 1,000 watts, so I have to adjust cooking accordingly.

I strongly suggest mounting it in a tall oven stack - at least at counter level, maybe a bit higher.

They make both a 27" and 30". (The 30" is only $100 more on AJ Madison than the one you posted from Ferguson. It needs a 240 volt circuit.)

With a new build, you should be able to install whatever voltage is needed.

Thanks for the comments. Does anyone know how well this thing functions as an oven?

Try searching the Kitchens & Appliances forums for "Advantium". I think there was some discussion maybe 10 years ago or so? I don't know if Advantiums have changed much b/w now and then.

I have not used this speed oven, but found the speed oven I did have (Miele) was the most used baking appliance in my kitchen and worked as well as a regular oven. One thing about all the GE Advantium ovens (and this appears to be an Advantium priced $1000 + more for the Monogram look) - they are not installable under counter (only in a wall stack), so not sure if that is an issue - I had mine (Miele) under counter and will be using a Wolf under a counter in a new build. Surprisingly - the Wolf is priced more competitively than the Monogram.

Thank you. It would be installed in a stack.

“One thing about all the GE Advantium ovens […] they are not installable under counter“

The 120v Advantium (that the OP is looking at) can be installed under counter.

I have an Advantium oven, a french door oven, and a hearth oven (previously a steam oven). The Advantium gets used the most. It excels at certain types of cooking. E.g. We prefer casseroles done in the Advantium over our regular oven as you always get a nice crispy top. However, you are not getting a 25 lb turkey in it.

So, if you are looking for a second oven for special occassions where you cook a lot, it is great. If you regularly need two traditionsl ovens, it is going to struggle.
