Im concerned that the photos are all photoshopped, and badly at that.

I purchased one last year before a chili party. The first one shipped didn't work, so I had to exchange it. The second one has worked really well for the few times I've used it. I place it on a piece of plywood covered in a cloth to protect the surface below from damage. I did read reviews saying the mat caused stone counters to crack.

I was wondering about damage to the surface below. I hope I can catch him before he orders it to ask his underlayment plan, and mention your first one didn’t work. He needs it this weekend, so he should have a back up warming plan ready in case of late delivery or a failed product.
