GE Profile Washer/dryer combo Lint buildup.

last month

It is amazing that, despite numerous complaints regarding lint buildup on this unit, GE has yet to fix this flaw. The lint build up not only stinks, but causes the machine to eventually cease. The internet has numerous suggestions on how to deal with this issue. Not all ideas work successfully to resolve the problem.

it is amazing, people continue to buy the Profile and GE gets away without fixing their engineering disaster and failure!

We've had ours for less than two years, have had repair out twice to do lint clean out. I got their appliances brushes and clean all three filters more than two times as often as recommended, and yet....it is IMPOSSIBLE to adequately clean the lint.

Sometimes it seems to "clear its throat" and throws up dense wads of lint from somewhere deep inside.

Filter schedule: swipe lint off screen filter every use. Clean foam filter every weekend, while giving screen filter a scrub with soap, clean out pump filter on bottom once a month.

The third link above shows how lint might be passing through gaps in the slide-in filter and suggests solutions.

yes, there are numerous ways to remove the lint, and work around utube videos. That GE has nore fixed this design flaw coupled with folks still buying it, is astonishong!

This machine is a very expensive, time consuming, high mintenance nightmare.

Just curious, why did you buy the unit if there are so many reviews and complaints about the design flaws? (Or did it come with a home you recently purchased?)

I got mine more impulsively than I should have. Went to the appliance store after purchasing a new home looking to replace a top loader with a front loader and asking about a ventless dryer- new home's laundry room is very small and located on the interior of the home. The appliance sales person asked if I'd heard of the new combo, and I remembered the one or two individuals here on Houzz who have raved about them (they are still regularly recommended for small/interior areas). When I see questions about them here now, I try to always post my experience. There are some pros that people may find outweigh the cons, especially if they don't have pets, or regularly wash lots of linty items.
