My preference is lighter color. Opens up & brightens space. Black shows every speck of crumb all day long. Color doesn’t have to be white - a creamy color would be nice

I'd also fill in the wall opening behind the peninsula. Move the ovens down. Use the peninsula cabinets between the oven stack and the existing counter. Add a pantry.

the black pendants and iron on the stools is enough black. stick with white ..it has a fresher/ more positive impact

Well I’d say it depends on which specific black or white and specifically what type of material. Best to take your actual cabinet door to slabs and see what you like. Then and only then do you worry about what specific backsplash

And I’d avoid a black faucet and sink in either case but that’s me

Yes, black faucets and sinks show every drop of water as a grey stain.

Having lived with dark counters and backsplash, I much prefer a light colored counter and backsplash, specially in the kitchen.

Black for me.

Based on the photos, dark seemed to compliment the cabinet warm tones. The cool white chosen, didn't.

Just as with our clothes and makeup, tones matter.

As someone with a wood and soapstone kitchen, I prefer the black counters.
