Window Coverings - Suggestions please

last month

We have a new home with large windows. I love the natural light but do not love the black hole that people can see into at night. I would love some budget friendly suggestions for window coverings. We just moved in this week but here are some pictures. Thanks for any suggestions. We have a lot of windows and are going to DIY installation of anything to save money.

(dogs are still getting used to the change - poor pups)

The bedroom blinds are shoing exactly why I hate mostblinds they are all crooked. As for the LR the least expensive choice are drpaes from Amazon. If you have heat and UV issues the solar shades will let you leep the view and control those issues and the drapes give you the nightime privacy . I always like drapes in bedrooms they somehow always make it feel cozier .The easy answer in there is a nice color from the bedding for the drapes . Love that you have a Christmas tree in your bedroom

For our main living space we have roller light filtering Shades. They work great. For our bedrooms we have roller blackout shades but also curtains.

in a living room with higher ceilings and dark furniture, I prefer blinds and curtains mounted at the ceiling. My go to brand for shades and blinds is Blinds.com

often great sales and a variety of colors to choose from, even black out and top down/bottom up options. For me, inside mount to show off the window itself.

Patricia, you can easily see in the photo that the blinds in the bedroom are the temporary stick on paper ones you can buy at HD/Lowes.

Most blinds aren't crooked when installed correctly!

For living rooms where you don't need complete privacy I love bamboo blinds for their neutral texture and budget friendliness :)

chispa, you are correct, we stuck some paper temporary blinds up for privacy in the bedrooms.

Since it looks like privacy will always be an issue in this home…I would start with good quality shades that pull up from the bottom….for needed privacy….

Depends what is beyond the windows really. Just because a house has lots of windows doesnt mean it lacks privacy, while we have the sun filtering shades we only close them in summer when it is hot.

It looks like privacy will always be an issue in this home…unless you have a gated driveway…with all the windows we have a house that is literally all windows across the front of the house

But our house is fenced and gated and no neighbors in view…and no way to enter the property..unless you have been invited….

We do however have bamboo drop down shades for when the sunlight is directly on all our front windows…thus overheating the house…
