You’re going in the right direction. Try a sample of Benjamin Moore Ballet White.

Also, consider using a nice floor lamp or two- so that you have ambient lighting at eye level. It would be good if all of your lighting is dimmable- including the ceiling/recessed lights.

That is great. Consider a floor lamp and or table lamp or two, so that you have layered lighting in the space. You would then also have the option of not using the overhead lights at times.

Alabaster is a nice color- and lately it seems like many folks around here think it‘s the answer to all global problems. :) But there are many whites to choose from- and I think the Alabaster seems too stark with your floor. Ballet White or similar would be better.

I wouldn't do either.

White is very popular and Alabaster is one of the more popular whites, but not every home has enough light to really make the white on white look shine and there are so many beautiful colors that fall between the relatively dark original wall color and white.
