Where is it ? What is it for? Why not just remove it ?

I had the same questions. Is this in a basement? Why is it there? utilities?

I'd put on a wood top, to match the wood on the walls.

It’s a block footer that was beefed up on the old part of our house in basement. We covered it with ledgeston that we had on hand.

What is the plan for the area in general? Finishes depend on the usage most times.

It’s just a tv room to hang out in. Wanted to cover the cement on top with something to compliment the space. v.

I would add a wood top that blends with those panels on the wall as well as the floor.

Adding the ledgerstone did nothing to improve it . In fact it made it an eyesore so remove that finish in drywall and move on . In fact I would remove the cabinets too

I’d do a dark no contrast top - if it were me, I’d probably keep it simple with wood painted black

I think it’s important to consider the whole area, as no matter what is used on the top it won’t matter if wall still feels disjointed/unbalanced.

Suggest adding shiplap on that side to create a connection, add a black surface on the stone for an uninterrupted effect, hang large black framed prints and add minimal accessories on ledge. This side will now counter balance the visual weight of the tv and be sure to paint the cabinet doors the same as walls.

On the other side, I’d lower the tv and if budget allowed, add a low console that works well with the other side.
