Sad with the saybrook sage...

I took chatgpts suggestion and painted my dining room BM sagebrook sage, but I dont love it. The wainscoting is SW natural linen. Floors are dark, furniture is light cream. Room is 13×14, 8 foot ceilings, and 1 large east facing window. Any suggestions on a green (preferably SW) that will not look minty?

"Older" colors are coming back! I painted the formal living room (which had a pool table in it!) in my second house in BM Saybrook Sage back in 2004!

The other popular greens back then were BM Baby Turtle and BM Georgian Green.

I know it can be hard; I’ve been there. If possible, always try to get a sample can to test in your space and lighting before choosing. Samplize.com is another good option that’s helped me with their “peel and stick“ swatches. They’re made with the actual paint instead of computer generated.

It doesn’t look minty on my screen. It seems to have a nice depth that reminds me of Laura Ashley colors which look great in my opinion.

^Agree with Shasta; not minty on my screen.

My BM Saybrook Sage from 2004. Did you use BM brand paint or did you have it color matched?

Only you know how it looks . Monitors ar famous for not rendering color well. Chatgbts are not now designers and so ignore that info. If you chose a BM color but has SW mix it it is not the same . I would never choose SW over BM I love BM Healing Aloe and use it often cut sometimes smetimes full strength . Maybe try Sea Salt BM

Did you test the actual color in your space or just go based on the Chat GPT picture? You MUST test colors in your actual space to get them to your liking. It is well worth the investment to purchase samplize swatches in a few different colors.

Invest in Samplize colors or small pots of the paints you’re considering.

BM Saybrook Sage isn't generally described as minty, but is a bit more colorful than some others.

Here are similar colors from both BM and SW - I added a column with Saybrook Sage to both pics so you can compare and show the data for Saybrook Sage on the SW tab - again so you can compare.

The three columns on the right are

L - light or luminance - how light a color is - higher the number the lighter the color

C-Chroma - how gray or colorful a color is - higher -more colorful - lower less colorful (0 gray)

H- Hue - in this case lower numbers are a bit more yellow green, higher are bluer green - I didn't pull anything bluer than Saybrook Sage since you don't want minty.

Clary Sage is one of SW most popular colors and is a lot less blue than Saybrook Sage.

I also like Soft Sage. It has a grayer base than either Clary Sage or Saybrook Sage.

Hands down, my favorite Sage Green paint color is October Mist. I have had the store lighten it 25% or even 50% when I needed a lighter Sage color, but it seems to have the right amount of gray that it doesn't ever look gray, but doesn't seem too green. I also like BM Paris Rain and I added BM Vale Mist - a bit lighter than the others, but another of my favorites.
