Hi there - has anyone replaced these in their house? Mine are rather old and a little bit sad - they’ve all been painted to match the existing wall colors, which I get. I don’t think of vent covers as a feature and I live in a 1963 center hall Colonial revival home, so no Arts and Crafts or Victorian vibes. My ducts are 12” x 4”. I’m finding one predominant company, Madelyn Carter, and all of her vent covers are expensive ($30 - 50 per) and have metallic finishes I would not paint over. Her dampers are all metal, like my original vent covers, when other companies use plastic dampers (boo), which may account for the price.

If I do choose these metal dampers, I guess I would choose the antique brass option as all of the hinges and door handles in the house are brass. Do you have any recommendations for where I might look to find other well made metal vent covers, perhaps paintable ones? Thanks for the help.
