Anyone use Neptune's harvest for seedlings?

porkchop I see that you're not getting any responses here. I can't be of much help (like my Vermont compost answer lol) but this is what I have to offer.

I am not a big fertilizer person at all. I have only recently started using hollytone for some of my evergreens, and every once in a while will fertilizer my tomatoes, or my annuals, and a few years back when I was growing flowers for my daughter's wedding, I did try to adhere to a fertilizing schedule for my dahlias.

Usually, it's a time thing. I just don't have time to keep to a good schedule.

However, when I DO fertilize, I always use an organic fertilizer, and it's usually seaweed or fish emulsion. I am always a bit hesitant because I don't want to attract critters, but so far I haven't had many problems.

Those times I fertilize I do usually buy Neptune's Harvest, but the thing is, I am not attentive enough to really see whether plants do better with the fertilization. I often start off in spring with it and then peter out, and I don't keep any kinds of records or notes to mark results or comparisons.

I will say that seaweed and/or fish emulsion was one of the main fertilizer choices of growing folks in my circles when I worked for an organic farming association. And many of them did use Neptune's Harvest.

I don't know if this helps but I wanted to try to contribute SOMETHING that might help you out.

    Good luck!

    :)

I've used it a couple times so far at 1/2 strength on some rooted cuttings. They seem to look perkier but I have no objective measurement of that :0) I'll have to see how the seedlings do this year.

The best seedling fertilizer I ever used was ROOTS liquid fertilizer, Gardeners Supply used to sell it decades ago but I've never seen it since. I've often wondered if it is some sort of sort of product like Neptune's, or even Neptune's re-branded, which is one of the reasons I wanted to try the Neptune's -- I never found anything that compared with whatever that stuff was.

I've used similar fertilizers on seedlings. Should be fine if diluted to maybe 1/4 of recommended strength.
