Hosta R 2025 ..........................................

Do you ever thank your plants for blooming? Or shake hands with them? Or am I weird?

interesting. I have been to 2. The small tree and the Statue of Liberty.

Nuclear war is no excuse for not wearing a tie.

I do talk to my plants on occasion. I have a friend that has the most beautiful house plants, he talks to them and plays them soothing music...Maybe I should.

    Rainforest Sunrise

    Rainbow's End

    Risky Business

    Raspberry Sundae

    Regal Splendor

I have (maybe had) Revolution but no pic. I loved Remember Me but lost it and want to replace it. My nursery guy said they won't even carry it anymore because it is so difficult.

Lol Paula, Pez. I do talk to my plants. Mostly in spring after the long cold winter I say hello as they break ground. Later in the season I will tell them they are looking good, gorgeous as the case may be. Sometimes it will be oh poor baby. It is a good thing I am rural!

Saija very nice colour on Remember Me. Resonance is really resonating with me. It is lovely.

old_dirt - Jerry I am always so taken with Risky Business. I have got to get mine planted. Your Raspberry Sundae is looking luscious.

    Rainbow's End

I'm not sure if the giant trees I've seen are the same as in your pic..I've seen enormous trees at Yosemite..

    nice Rs everyone..

    I have 3 Rs..

Royal Standard..the spindly green one on the right growing with some green and whites (?) that I moved here from around the yard..

    Regal Splendor..(Krossa Regal behind it)..

    Rainforest Sunrise..with some reverting leaves..

Red October one of my self-made minis gave a real great show this year.

Also had a great year. Royal Standard.

nickel I took this tree to be General Sherman the famous one from Sequoia National Park. Yosemite also grows Giant Sequoia trees, so you have seen the same trees.

    'Raspberry Sundae'

    'Rainforest Sunrise'

    'Ray of Hope'

Something you don't see often: pods on 'Ray of Hope'..

    rectifolia var. 'Pruinosa'

rectifolia is always one of the last ones to break, here it is the middle of May and it's still not totally unfurled.

    'Red October'

For a few years we had a hanging basket more or less at eye level with a 'Red October' to show off the red petioles.

'Red Stilts' is out of 'Sea Octopus' and its pods colour up as well, just not quite as dark.

When I bought this cultivar it was labeled as 'Red October' and I knew darn well it wasn't and it took my 3 or 4 years to figure out what I actually had.

I have a fair number of R's and I'll split it into more than one post....

Next up is 'Regal Splendor' which I've had since 2012. I have not had any reversions to 'Krossa Regal' but I did see hints of sporting that never amounted to anything.

    'Remember Me'

    'Restless Sea'

'Revolution' throws all-green sports frequently for me, I call those "Green Revolution" and they look virtually identical to 'Outta Business', they both have the same growing habit and the only real way to tell them apart is to compare leaf thickness: one's a polyploid, the other a diploid.

'Rhino Gold' doesn't look very yellowish here but it does do that with a bit more direct sun.

    'Ripple Effect'

I've had this cultivar for over 10 years and the 2nd year I had it I planted it under a large rosemary bush and it just didn't do anything there. So, it was dug up, put into a pot and it's doing very well, thank you.

'Risky Business'.... and its sport 'Outta Business', a good example of the vigour of all-green sports.

'Rollercoaster Ride' is the stable medio-variegated form of 'Ray of Hope' and I don't appear to have any pictures of it from last year, oh well.... and lastly I have 'Rubies and Ruffles'.... and again, no pictures....

Everyone’s Rainforest Sunrise, Regal Splendor and Rainbow’s End are terrific!

Saija, I love your Raucous Ruffles.

Old_dirt your Risky Business is great…… does it revert to something?

Laurie and Pieter, I really like Red October!

Ben I love Ripple Effect! Does it stay yellow all season?

Beth, you and I seem to be the only ones with Robert Frost, an oldie. Yours looks much better than mine. 🤭

debra - TY, Risky Business hasn't reverted so far and I've had it for 10 years. It is a sport of Striptease.

I really like your Ruffled Mouse Ears, such great flowers and I'm not a big fan of Hosta flowers.

I tell my plants, “good job!” Or I might say, “Look at you!” I’d probably say more, but the neighbors can see me.

saija, you have a Remember Me that looks happy in its spot.

    old_dirt, great looking Risky Business.

Laurie, I like everything about your Regal Splendor photo!

Debra, Royal Tiara is doing so well in that pot.

    Ben, very pretty Ripple Effect.

    Ann, nice Rainforest Sunrise.

Paula, your hosta collection is pretty good considering you’re not in a climate they thrive in.

Pieter, all nice hostas, and you made me laugh with your Outta Business. The name seems appropriate.

Beth, so many good photos. Impressive Revolution!
