Hi there! My dining area and kitchen are side-by-side in an open layout (photo of my kitchen with the island is below). I want to build a dry bar that will run alongside my kitchen but I don’t want it to match my kitchen design exactly (so that it looks like 2 distinct areas). The dry bar’s lower cabinetry will match my kitchen (white cabinets w/ quartz countertop) and then I will do upper white oak cabinets with glass doors that will match my flooring. My question: How should I layout the upper cabinetry? I wanted to do 2 tall cabinets on each end of the dry bar with 2 shelves in the middle and backsplash that will go up to the second shelf. Or should I enclose the top of the dry bar like the photo sample below?? NOTE: cabinetry will not go to the ceiling. The top of the cabinetry will either be slighty above or slightly below the original top of the kitchen cabinetry.
