My first instinct would be to use black to match the existing hardware, but I agree with you that your fabric choice may work better with white. Find your fabric first, I guess.

Cafe curtains will cover the entire rods so I don't think it's a huge deal one way or the other.

Here are a few options I’m considering. I like the second but wonder if it will provide enough privacy, and also question if I’d ever be able to tie such pretty bows.

The second photo will not give much privacy at night. Powder room on the first floor, most people would be more comfortable with more privacy day and night.

With a cafe curtain, if there is two or more story building next door, people on higher floors can see in anyway?

Thank you Allison. The condo is a townhouse stlye with the primary living floor , including powder room on the second floor. If someone was walking behind the unit, the PR window would be one floor above. And then there is a small wood buffer and then a single syory home . Still, I dont think that curtain( the 2nd one) is adequate. I may purchase it to use on the third floor landing.

I am a bit smitten with this fabric but havent found a domestic seller yer and I dont want to wait weeks for shipping. I’d slso prefer to buy a made curtain and not have a sewing project. Suggestion for a fabric like this would be appreciated.

I had curtains like those in pic 2 in a powder room. I liked them but of course they are essentially stationary.

I like window treatments so probably ended up doing more than you might want to, but here it is. My bathroom window has 3 parts: valance I made, a roller shade that hides under the valance during the day and gets pulled at night for privacy and warmth, and an open-weave curtain on a tension rod for daytime privacy which also lets the afternoon sunlight stream in.

Think about what functions you want from your window treatment and that will help you decide what to do. Privacy? Insulation? Light Control? Do you have a view you want to enjoy? (There's a bench under my window and every a.m. I kneel on it and look out the window while I'm brushing and flossing my teeth!) I love the tension rod as in the winter, I lower it to the sill to let the sunlight stream in and warm the room. Then slide it up again for privacy once the sun goes down. I've thought about a top down/bottoms up shade but they seem more complicated than they're worth.

Also, bathrooms tend to have few places to use fabric for adding visual warmth, interest and sound deadening. Window treatments are one of those options.

The fabric you like is very pretty, but it is solid and dark so will block a lot of the light I see pouring into the room in your photos...unless you use it for something like a valance. Also, if privacy is essential, you don't have a view but want the light, you might consider a window film. They come in textures, clear, and lots of colors too. Or you might want a decorative shade such as delia shades which have interesting patterns to them.
