No rug, as arranged. You would need a rug 3 ft larger than the table. As is, how do diners get in and get out? It is just too tight.

Room looks interesting, love the art on the wall, but we need to see the entire room.

Table is great; I see wicker; assuming area is small. You can have a wonderful multi-purpose room, without a sofa.

Sofas are over rated. I'd rather pull a chair up to a table, than sit with my legs crossed (Nuns taught us).

I don’t think that table lends itself to using a rug. It’s a lovely area as is.

do you need a rug? the chairs would need to be lifted to slide away from the table, not ideal.

if you change out the chairs to casters, then I'd consider a rug.

Love the framed art, but half is covered by the table. Isn't there a better spot to hang it?

I'm showing a rug but I'd say you'd need at least an 8 x 8 square rug (I prefer a square rug to a round one) which isn't particularly easy to find one you'll like. Note that the one shown isn't square. You can place pads under the chair legs to protect the floor. The table seems very close to the wall, can you pull it out? I also suggest you turn the chairs clockwise, the guests wouldn't have their back against the wall and they'd have more room.

The art is large and impactful and I think a rug will compete and even make the space feel smaller. If worried about floor being scratched, consider adding pads to the chairs’ feet. Try moving the table away from the wall to give breathing space from the art and a pendant would have a nice effect in creating balance (per below).

Use pads under the legs and save the work of having to clean the rug and the floor every time you rent it out .THe art is the star and if you really worry about the legs go swivel for chairs . I agree the table needs to be pulled out so someone can actually sit back there without moving the table .
