If you really need storage, I would remove the table and replace it something with the type of storage you need. Or 2 taller baskets so you don't see the stuff inside

Do you need storage or a place to sit? Either way I would agree this floating table is not helping you meet your needs. Function needs to lead. Other wise you need to clear out the basket and let the shelf float--nothing ought to be underneath it. Why are you lighting the floor? Maybe it's functioning like a night light as people enter, which I am sure works over all but just strikes me odd in this photo.

Yes, eliminate the light. The shoes do not need to be illuminated for all to see!
