In town today to take care of some school emails. Work goes on even without wifi at home so am doing every other day visits to my son’s office to conduct my business.

Just to provide more input to your responses-Mantis, it was bitter cold for two days with night temps in single digits. We camped out by the fire with all the blankets in the house! Thankfully the temps gradually warmed up so we were able to sleep in our bedroom where the temps were in the 30s for several nights.

Sherry, it was tough. I thought 23 days in 1994 without power and water was bad but thirty years ago I was a lot younger!! As Debra said and she survived 1994 as well, this one was much worse.

There are still some without power on our cooperative. The debris from trees is astounding and school bus routes are still impossible in many roads. My large tree in my front yard will come down but probably not until summer when the lawn is hard packed. My internet server cannot tell me when that might be restored-it is underground fiber optic but the boxes where it came up for air and power along the route were almost totally obliterated by falling trees and limbs. We are looking at other short term options

Maryl, there are probably FEMA services out there. Hopefully the people that need those services will find them.

And yes, Debra, it does seem outragious that some people will be March getting power restored, I see first hand the hardships these linemen face. In many places the vegetation is so dense they are having to bulldoze pathways just to reach the poles and lines. After 1994, power companies spent a lot of time and money clearing the power right of ways but when trees and not limbs are falling it makes a huge difference.

Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. I will be back on to participate in the fun stuff when internet is restored. And thanks for letting me story tell this experience. It has been quite overwhelming when I see the cleanup yet to come but I promise not to bore you with that!
